STILL AN ISSUE at the end of APRIL, 2020 (os x). As others have commented elsewhere, this problem has occurred when doing something as simple as importing two nearly identical Quicktime screen recordings (same dimensions +/- 5 pixels), same file size (470 MB vs 486 MB). In my experience, the first file will import with no problems, but the second file causes the above error. Thankfully, changing the file extension of the second file from “.mov” to “.mp4” resolves the issue.
