Would be very useful to be able to get the property source of an Essential Property, ie. the property that this Essential Property is controlling, and if it is a media replacement property then would be great if this returned the AVLayer object that the media replacement property is controlling
Thanks!

Could be as simple as something like
app.project.item(index).layer(index).propertySpec.layerSource
Returning AVLayer object

On further testing I've found that this can be fixed by just moving the data file layer below the comp with master properties, I'm guessing it's to do with the order in which it evaluates values

Unless I'm not understanding correctly, this is possible, when you take a comp that has Essential Properties added to it and place it in another comp, you can twirl open that comp layer and you'll see "Essential Properties" adjusting these will only affect those properties on that instance of the comp, so you can reuse that comp throughout your project and have different properties set on each
