hi there John, thanks for response, sorry for slow response from my side.

So your response clued me in to what might be happening.

I use a 3rd Party plugin called FX Console (Video CoPilot/Andrew Kramer) that just creates a little floating box where you can type in plugin names and implement them quickly(as well as a few other useful functions), this has been part of my workflow for many years.

The error is occurring when I try and call the effect preset from FX Console, I just tested it using AE's built in effects panel and it worked, so the problem lies not with Adobe I guess.

So I'll write to VC and mention it to them too. BUT! If you can help them work out what's wrong that would be stellar as the FX Console plugin is a great workflow help.

Posting a grab of the error message for your reference.

I have this exact issue, thanks for flagging it 2 years ago.

I use dupe detection all the time as my workflow involves having some source media dumped at the end of my timeline so I can see at a glance what media I've used and what I may still be able to mine for usable shots - so I leave dupe detection on by default.

However the clip markers and comments are at the same height on the track and are obscured by the dupe detection lines, not to mention the clip names are also at the same height, so what you wind up with is a jumble that isn't helping.

I understand that it may be starting another problem - i.e. on the audio tracks for example, if you stacked the dupe line, the comment and the name above each other, you probably wouldn't then be able to see the waveform, which is super important to me too.

So.... short of some genius way of redesigning the UI, maybe there could be some kind of shortcut/toggle to push that information to the foreground - i.e. hold down a button to brings comments or dupe lines to the 'top level' so it can be viewed? Or just keep the comments/markers on top of the dupe lines? Or perhaps make the dupe lines a different kind of background pattern behind the waveform? the dupes are a 'glance' but the comments I sometimes want to read in detail because it might be a detailed note.

I'll second this, as an artist, working in the design stage (frequently in AE, which is insane but it is what it is) I find myself building out text blocks with variations in typeface, weight, boldness, colour etc, and recently picked up textExploder to quickly break up the text block into animatable chunks.

However the formatting on individual words disappears (using textExploder), which again becomes time consuming. So I completely support whatever Mathias suggests as a solution to this as it will just help accelerate the workflow for text based motion design.

    Thanks!

Yes please, and for bonus points can Adobe just copy Avid's feature of being able to generate keyboard shortcuts from menu items by having a 'Assign Shortcut from Menu Item' button, and that will save us having to come and ask for this stuff when we can just straight up tailor the program to our needs on the fly.

I'm ******* furious about this, and the adobe help person just glibly tells me to lower my monitor settings, while in my next window I see people have been complaining on forums about this since 2014
