I use E/R as frame advance left one right one frame and keep Q/W as ripple trim so if you have it mapped like that you just have to bounce between R and Q on the keyboard with the left hand. Its not so bad but yeah I can see how this is annoying if you are left on default keyboard mapping.

My keyboard shortcuts are loosely based on this guy's. Sort of changed my life ha.

Still broken. The only way i can use previews it seems is if I use the "Smart Render" function. As in outputting a rendered ProRes422HQ timeline using "match sequence" and then rendering it out to another ProRes 422HQ.

I don't know why it doesn't use previews for output outside of the smart render feature. Its very frustrating. This feature has been broken on and off for a number of years you never know when updating premiere which features will still work and which ones are going to be broken.

This is extremely frustrating. Almost every part of a dynamic link / render preview workflow is broken these days. Either the preview files go offline / red, requiring a re-render, or premiere refuses to use them on export. Its maddening.

This has been a problem for YEARS. Premiere does not recognize DPI scaling and transmit just places the video wherever it pleases.

Shape layers are slow. But wait till you use complicated shape layers in 3D! Then the true pain begins as you try to move an align layers as the interface updates at 1FPS.

Haha its truly insane how such a basic feature has been essentially broken for 3 years now.

So is Adobe a congressional body or something why does it take 2 years for something to go through "review." Either make the feature or don't. Man I get tired of this.

Yes to add to this I would say:

    1. Typically I keep all my dynamic links in one .AEP file per Premiere Project but if that After Effects project isn't open premiere will dump the comp into a random new project. If After Effects isn't open there should be a setting or a dialog that allows you to open a new AEP or to place the dynamic link into an established project. If after effects is already open than use the old behavior.

    2. Either allow us to name the comp on export to AE as mentioned above, or have premiere update the names once as they are renamed in After Effects. As it is once you start renaming things to normal useful names in AE everything becomes much harder to find on the premiere side because they all keep there less than useful "linked comp 01" type names.

I'm not sure if this would muck up somebody's workflow but maybe it could be a toggle like how label colors or clip names stay the same within premiere.

The biggest question is why do we have to reset preferences so often in the first place to make this program work.

100% this. The basic stability of your program should not be dependent on whether or not the user has decided to trash his preferences and then reset them all of every time he launches the program. Like which preference that I am setting (default audio crossfade!?!) is causing playback of tiny MP4 media files to come to a standstill? I can't imagine the files are becoming corrupted that just doesn't happen that often on modern SSDs and hardware, at least not at the rate that this program needs to be reset.

It makes the software feel like it is in a constant state of disrepair if the user has to nuke preferences and media cache every 3 days just to get playback up to an acceptable level.

Either do as the OP suggested and run some sort of validation step or actually fix some of the low level bugs that make this program do this in the first place.

I am having this problem as well. I think it happens when you have premiere dynamically linked and open?
