Yes Mercury Transmit freeze (or stay black) randomly very often for no reason (v17.0) whereas the main viewer still work ok.
I am on Windows 10 with nvidia GC, same thing with Blackmagic video card.
Very ennoying.Stéphane Augé supported this idea ·

Thank you for filing this report.
We need more information before we can investigate this problem.
Is the audio choppy only while After Effects is rendering previews, or after the composition is cached in RAM and playing back?
While After Effects is rendering a preview, audio playback may be choppy or slowed down, as playback at this point may not be real-time.
Once the preview is rendered and cached (the rendered frames are represented by green marks in the Timeline panel), playback should be real-time and audio playback should be smooth.
You can determine whether or not playback is real-time in the Info panel.
If the problem is only that audio is not smooth while previews are being rendered, you can disable audio during rendering in a couple of different ways:
- In the Preview panel, enable the Cache Before Playback option. This causes After Effects to not attempt playback…Stéphane Augé supported this idea ·

Same issue here. It is a bug related with 4k monitors. It appeared with CC 2015, CC 2014 is working perfectly smooth with 4k monitors. Adobe is aware of the problem but doesn't seem to care at all.

The latest (November 2019) release of After Effects includes major improvements to our preview architecture. You should see reliable, real-time playback of cached frames. Give it a try, and let us know how it’s working for you.

I totally agree. Please Adobe, stop adding marketing features.
CC 2014 was working perflectly and then Adobe changed the code of the interface and since then the interface is going wrong.
The Ram preview is super buggy. It drop frames, it has audio problems, the green bar behaviour is totally eractic. The character panel is buggy too, the list menu is laggy, etc. etc. etc...
All this wasn't there before.
CC 2014 was working perfectly. Please revert back the interface (espacially the Ram preview part) to what it was in CC 2014.
