    Antoine, AE is capable to work with 3D layers (2D layers in a 3D Scene), 3D Nulls, 3D Lights, 3D Cameras! But let's make a practicle example: Let's say you have a shot (film footage) with a moving camera and you wish to add 3D objects/renderings from a real 3D program like autodesk 3ds Max, Maya etc. to it. You could 3D track and solve the 3D scene in AE with the 3D Camera Tracker, when the 3d scene with a moving 3D camera is created you could add 3D Nulls to important 3D points/positions in space to that 3d scene as reference points, you could add 3D Layers (2D Layers in 3D Space) to that 3D scene e.g. to represent screens or areas etc. But you can't export this 3D scene including 3D Camera, Nulls and Layers natively from AE to 3ds Max or Maya via e.g. FBX file export. And that's what I'm asking for! The most important part of the FBX import/export is the animated 3D camera data. The 3D nulls and 3D layers would only be used for references in the 3d space. AE's 3D Nulls would be represented in the 3D program (e.g. 3ds max) as simple points. AE's 3D Layers would be represented in the 3D program (e.g. 3ds max) as rectangular shapes (splines) or planes (polygone).

    Antoine, I think that's not enought and would not make much sense. AE has a 3D Camera tracker and solver but no native way to export a 3D scene (with scaling options and up vector conversion/selection) including 3D Camera, 3D layers and 3D Nulls to any 3D file format or package except Cinema4D. So an import / export to e.g. FBX as industry standard would be much appreciated and open up interoperability.

    Great idea Duduf!

    I would like to expand this feature request to the "Audio on/off" icon of a layer:

    Additional Option would be:
    [x] Use and play audio syncronized in all nested precompositions and provide audio waveform as none editable guide layer

    This would make audio relevant animation work in a nested precomposition to the audio layer of the parent main composition much easier and would not require copying the audio layer to the nested precomposition just to hear it!

    Victoria, i think this feature request has nothing to do with the "Create Nulls from Path" panel/command. I think what is needed is an independent transform (anchor point, position, rotation, scale or a parent/link functionality) for the whole mask. Let's think of an moving object we need to rotoscope. We could easiely track position, rotation and scale (PRS Data) of that object in Mocha or AE's tracker. Now we apply that tracking data to a null layer in AE. The null moves and behaves nicely with the object to rotoscope. On the layer we want to rotoscope we now draw on the first frame to rotoscope our mask and parent it to our null layer either via a parent functionality or via expression or copy keyframes to/from the PRS tracking data of the null layer.
    Now the mask moves nicely in a general sense with our object to rotoscope (but not the layer itself moves) and all we need to do is animate the mask for minor changes where the mask doesn't fit perfectly with the object to rotoscope. This results in very few needed keyframes for rotoscoping and it's a common practice in postproduction. This workflow is already possible in AE with an additional layer (e.g. a solid with the mask) linked to the null (RPS data) and used as trackmatte for the layer/object to rotoscope. But it requieres an additional layer mostly higher in resolution then comp size (depends on movement) and it clutteres up the comp and blocks the trackmatte usage for other purposes.
