I am also very unhappy with the responsiveness. Maybe a solution could be to be able to switch the UI-Design to a simplified but more responsive Version? If you use the Newton Plugin (by motion boutique) you never experience even the slightest lag no matter how many layers you stuff into it. I always wonder what's the big difference here.

I assume it is not only about of screen resolution or Ghz. The question is what happens during the selection of layers? I believe the Application reads out the information about keyframes and expressions or whatever you are selecting. Only when finished it allows the screen to "go on scrolling" an "show the selected things as selected". I am sure there is a way to unlink those two things? Just let me select and move stuff quickly. I don't mind when it takes more time afterwards.

This is actually about the users health. If you experienced ellbow or shoulder problems due to computermousing you'll know what I am talking about.

It could also be an idea to improve the set matte effect to ignore resolutions and basically to the same thing.

It looks great how Sander shows in the video. Right now, the only way to work (a little bit) efficiently is the search function of the timeline. The idea by Sander to have the search function also in this new effect/properties panel is also great!

    Hello everybody!

(This post was co-authored by Tim Kurkoski (After Effects Product Owner), Andrew Cheyne (After Effects Engineering Manager), and Victoria Nece (After Effects Product Manager).)

This thread has been sitting here for quite a while without a response. To start, we want to apologize for that. We haven’t been ignoring you or your feedback – this is just a particularly complex topic. That said, it’s time for us to check in with you, clarify a few things, and give you an idea of what we’re looking at for the future of After Effects, especially when it comes to performance.

To start, we fully understand that you want After Effects to be as fast as it can be – utilizing your computer’s hardware resources to render as fast as possible. Over the last several years, we have been working on the performance of After Effects constantly. Sometimes those performance gains…
