14.8 update has labels back, BUT they do not work the same way. You used to be able to cut a single clip into segments on a timeline and then label each segment a different color. Now you cannot do that - every single part of a clip gets color changed when changing color label. Horrible workflow for interviews.

Same exact issue. macOS 10.15.7 (19H15) with Premiere Pro 14.6.0 (Build 51).

Can we bring this idea forward again? Been waiting for this for many years.

Same happens when eGPU is not even connected, just with built in Vega48 and no additional monitors.
Got through today without running into this much (If at all), but timelines were largely not force rendered - they were not “green bar” at the top.
Totally would understand this happening with yellow or red bar, that’s normal and even expected in some cases. Green bar is another story.

Similar lack of crash reports in both Premiere Pro and AE.
Really seems there is some cache indexing involved every single time a project opens, which is especially slow for larger projects.

A POSSIBLE workaround with this is:
add a BLACK VIDEO track for a set duration
lock that video track so the actual timeline length does not change
perform your audio edits, with a lot of "tail" spaceSeems to trick or fix whatever issue is going on with playback.

Can we have this as a preference setting to remove? One of the few things I actually like about the .5 release so far.

Can you provide any ETA on a fix? Colleagues are into exact same issues with iMac 27" eGPU setups in Catalina. It's especially a problem for projects that are built with transform as a "template" effect.

Trashed preferences. Repaired permissions. First Aid checks clear everywhere. No issues reported at all.
For some reason, this almost feels like an old dGPU/iGPU issue I used to run into on an old 15" MBP with NVIDIA and integrated graphics. Disabling graphics switching usually fixed that, or starting PS/AE/PPro right after a reboot.
(There is no "disable graphics switching" or "automatic graphics switching" on an iMac 27" 2019.)
