When you realize you need to separate the dimensions of a layer and you've already done animation on that layer, doing so shouldn't ***** up the work you've already done.

This is 100% possible. Moho has this capability and it's hobbyist level software.

Unfortunately, I need to change the status of this feature request. While we anticipated being able to share the new Projects feature in our Public Beta release, for which Bins were a component, the realities of the pandemic and related business priorities required the Audition team to focus efforts on other ongoing projects. At this time, I cannot provide an estimated date when Bins or related organizational features may be introduced to the Audition session format.

Hi folks! A quick update to let you know that three new Multi-Frame Rendering features went live in the After Effects public beta (18.4×37 and later) earlier this week:

    • Speculative Preview: When AE is idle (you’re checking your email, grabbing a coffee or even just browsing effects), it will render your timeline in the background so you’re ready to preview when you get back.
    • Multi-Frame Rendering in Adobe Media Encoder Beta: Enable MFR in the AE Beta and export in the background up to 3x faster.
    • Render notifications on desktop, iOS and Android: AE can let you know when it’s done no matter where you are via the Creative Cloud app. (Fun bonus: notifications will even work on your smartwatch!)

Here’s a link with more info on each feature:

Let us know how things are working for you on the beta forums. And stay tuned for more Multi-Frame Rendering…

@Patrick - Ahh, gotcha. That is strange...

    WARNING

Downloaded the beta, it auto-updated my media encoder, and now I can't send projects from AE 2019 to AME because the correct versions was erased. It's not available for download either, so I'm totally Fked.

@PatrickProier - Multicore hasn't been implemented in media encoder yet, so you won't see a difference.

"Multi-Frame Rendering is now available in After Effects public beta. We’re starting with Render Queue export, and will add support for preview, AME, MOGRTs and beyond in subsequent releases."

I did a test with a project I'm working on and it went from a render time of 2:26 to 1:43. So around 29.5% faster render time.

Pretty cool! Not really applicable to my workflow yet, since it's only implemented in the render queue, but I'm looking forward to further implementation, especially previews, since that's when I really need to see what I'm doing.

Emphasized clock speed over core count because of AE. -_-

The whole package feels super fast and well-implemented to me...

Update: Whoops! Turns out I was using Cavalry.

I just want to mention that I made an entire explainer video in one project file in Moho (an amateur software despite the "Pro" in the name) and was able to animate and scrub the timeline without experiencing any lag whatsoever. Animating complex vector scenes and characters in real-time is totally a reality.

I don't know what it will take to get AE up to speed but please dear God make it happen.

I'm currently transitioning to another software for character animation since it is so slow in AE. I'm literally able to animate a complex rigged vector character with zero lag on a laptop in this other software. Trying to do the same in AE is excruciatingly slow and makes the process of bringing a character to life much more difficult than it needs to be.

This is still an issue. In addition, the rays don't seem to be rendering out of AE at all. I don't have time to send a file, but if you just go into AE, make some text, apply the effect (directly or via adjustment), you'll probably see what I mean.
