    @Eduardo,

You can actually rearrange the timeline as you describe though in a roundabout way. You can drag most columns in the TLW to change their position, layer/name isn't one, but you can drag the others to the left/right side of it. That though is a stopgap to solve your current request, and likely should be expanded on to allow that column to be moved itself.

    @Designer Three

To quickly get out of the text edit box simply press tab. You can pressing tab to cycle through all the fields of that dialog box and you can use it to highlight the ok or cancel button and press enter to perform those button actions without using your mouse.

    @Shane Keefe,

Thanks for taking the time to post about this.

Curious if you are using the home screen or not? The home screen is a window that pops up when you first open the application.

    All the best,

    Hello Mograph Mindest,

In this particular case it is a bit of a design limitation of the Libraries panel that we can not access the destination library options (get a list of what libraries you have that we could save to) without the panel being open since it is a CEP panel and the request for paths is to the panel. Unless you are proposing that the drop down list would only have Libraries and then some new dialog or new popup would show up with a list of libraries destinations? There might be some issues with that for timing of population for destinations... but is something to think about.

A set it and forget it option in preferences though is very much possible, and probably more likely for an easy solution that doesn't change workflows/expectations of the process. Likely this preference starting state would show libraries locations as a default since we have been shipping with this functionality. If creators had to enable libraries as a destination that might cause greater confusion than giving options to disable the libraries destination.

I will enter it into our backlog for consideration. Thanks for taking the time to submit this request. Feel free to respond back if you have any further thoughts to add.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello Mograph Mindest,

Unfortunately, in order to get a list of destinations from libraries, that panel needs to be open. I understand that it sounds like you do not want to export to libraries, so an alternative solution would be needed. Would a preference option for mogrt export stating that you do not want to export to libraries (or some effect there to) be a potential option that would interest you?

    All the best,

    Hello Gilad,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Are these locally installed fonts or ones that should be automatically downloaded from Adobe Fonts?

If you could also respond with which version of AE you are experiencing this issue with, that would be helpful.

    Anii,

Sorry this is happening to you and thank you for posting here. Do you get a chance to send a crash report or is it launch and the application and system crashes in one go?

I know I have experienced whole system crashes in other applications when an old graphics card was incompatible.

Could you please comment as well on your system information? OS, processor, GPU, it could help point to the issue.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello Alexey,

Thanks for posting. I am able to see this issue when deleting a folder, but it doesn't prevent import. Is that the same situation as you are seeing?

    Hello Stuart,

Thanks for your suggested improvement. I will have to look into it, but it is likely waiting for a response from AME and if it never received the response from AME, it would be bad to prematurely unqueue it. Would your preference be that it unqueues it upon clicking queue in ame, then requeues it if the queueing fails?

Just curious to hear more of how you envision this workflow and what the UI would look like. I would expect it is better for most to get extra renders listed then miss exporting one from the queue?

Thanks for your time in discussing this issue.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue. If you recall any specifics around the crash it would help us isolate that bug to fix it.

After Effects does have an auto save feature, and can be modified in your preferences under the Auto-Save panel. It requires an initial save of the project but then will function according to your settings.

    Hope this helps you.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to post here.

I just tried this in my local beta build and it seems to be working on Windows. Can you let us know your version number and what OS you are on? I can see if the functionality is incorrect in that specific version/OS.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello,

Thanks for letting us know about the issue you encountered.

Is this version 17.0 or one of the more recent releases? Monday (pacific standard time) we released version 17.1. Even though opening and closing the application solved the issue, it would be good for us to know what version you had the issue with.

    Thanks again!

    All the best,
    Jess

    Hello John,

Thanks for posting here about the bug you have been running into.

We had found a bug for an issue like this when running Touch Bar Mac systems on a pre-Catalina OS. Updating to Catalina resolved the issue on those systems. If the system cannot be updated to Catalina, a workaround on those systems is to keep typing and delete some characters and the save as field normally corrects itself after that.

Does the description above match the computer running into this issue?

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello Jessie,

What version of AE are you running? This was broken for 17.0 and then subsequently fixed in 17.0.1

    Thanks for your time.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello Katharina,

I am a developer on the AE team. I am not sure I understand the issue so please correct me if I get your steps wrong.

    1. open an .aet file that has fonts that are not on your system
    2. change a text layer with a missing font, to a font you have
    3. font change does not actually occur

I've tried this locally on my latest builds and it works as expected. What version are you using? Are you on Windows or Mac?

    Thanks for reaching out.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello Bob,

Just looked at it a bit this morning. I see this was functionality that was lost when we moved to the new drop down list for fonts in the character panel (favorite support, search, etc). I see as well, when we select multiple text layers with different fonts, we are still displaying the last assigned/used font instead of a blank box. This will help us narrow down the bug solution.

If you can track down reproduction steps for any other bugs you see related to this, please feel free to add them to this post.

Thanks for taking the time to bring this to our attention and then follow up with your reproduction steps. I missed seeing the original post back in 2018. At the time we were aware of changes that broke the up down arrow preview functionality and that was fixed in the next release (then recent changes broke it again for 17.0) and we fixed it in 17.0.1. It is never our intention to break old workflows and this can also go in as process to test when modifications are made in this area in the future.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to work on this with us. We as a team greatly appreciate it.

    All the best,
    Jessica

Which version worked the way you would expect with multiple layers selected? I am looking to compare current and previous expected behavior if possible. Thanks!

    Hello Axel,

This is Jessica - a developer from the AE team.

You can currently right click on a guide to input an exact pixel location.

How do you imagine using names/notes on guides? Use cases would help inform how this would be used, implemented, etc.

    Thanks for posting your idea.

    All the best,
    Jessica

    Hello Skye,

You can do a few things by setting custom shortcuts using the Keyboard Shortcuts Editor. Information about that can be found here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/keyboard-shortcuts-reference.html?mv=product&mv2=ae

You can select the shape/mask tool via a built in shortcut: Q (which is meant to cycle through the polygon shapes)f
To cycle through the polygon shapes, you can continue to press Q to cycle forward or shift+Q to cycle backwards.

The tool will become active as whatever you used last on your current selection (shape or mask) or it will be context based on the default for a given selected layer (mask with solid layer selected, shape if shape layer, shape if no layers are selected, etc).

I understand though that you want the ability to toggle back and forth between the mask and shape tool (say when working on a shape layer). We have a list of small (in implementation) future features and I have added your idea to this. Thank you for submitting it!

If there is anything in your post that you think I didn't address - please make an additional comment.

    All the best,
    Jessica
