    All,

first of all I wanted to thank everyone for making this a productive conversation over the last couple of days.

As several people responded to my comment about keeping the tone civilised, I need to dwell on that for a minute. Please hear me out, this is important to everyone on my crew and I hope it will be to you.

Saying that we shouldn't be surprised when things get heated is very problematic in my opinion. How do you expect a junior person on my team to respond to a technical question when it is combined with something that can easily be described as hate speech? How do you think we can actually come together on actual issues when there's already the assumption that we're a big faceless corporation, not even listening to our customers?

People on my team have received threats. I've been there over the years,…

Honestly, my biggest problem with this whole debacle was the way this was rolled out. Large, workflow-breaking changes should never be pushed onto users without warning - especially in a minor version bump, and particularly when there's still so many small elements that are not ready for *********.

This should have been a 'preview' feature, with a "Hey, would you like to try our new import/export workflow?" prompt, and a way for users to opt-out and give feedback until the new UI had been tested at scale. The switch from the legacy titler to Essential Graphics was a good example of how changes like this should be handled.

My other gripe is that the premiere developers seem to be using a new UI kit that is slower, bulkier and less native than the prior UI. New features (like the otherwise brilliant new captioning tool) have unnecessarily large buttons and spacing, are slow to react compared to the rest of the UI, and have unnecessary and laggy animation. You see it again in the new export window, where keyboard navigation and shortcuts don't work as expected. Or the new header bar, which is a panel that doesn't work like any of the existing panels and can't be removed.

In a program that should all be about speed and efficiency, it seems very backwards to be making UI decisions that directly slow down work and use up space. Premiere's UI should be getting out of the way, not making itself front and centre.

I think this is all symptomatic of a larger shift inside Adobe. Since the introduction of Creative Cloud, it seems clear that the focus is on big headline features and winning over new users, rather than improving the product at its core. Nowhere has this been more evident than with Premiere. I understand that the "content creator" market is a huge part of Adobe's business (I do enough of that type of work myself), but the focus seems to be swung too far towards catering to that specific demographic of user. Auto-Reframe, Essential Sound, GIF export?

Meanwhile, 'Pro' features and long-standing bugs are ignored. Merged clips are broken, AAF export is broken, batch-syncing to timecode requires a frustrating workaround via multicam sequences. I'd love it if the Premiere team would spend a release just focusing on all the little things that cause day-to-day frustrations for professionals, but I won't hold my breath, because that sort of thing doesn't attract new Creative Cloud subscribers.

John, "adjustment layers affect all the tracks below them" is literally the issue this suggestion is trying to address. There are many situations where it would be useful for an effect to apply to everything on a track, but none of the tracks below it. Color correcting multicam cameras is one, I'm particularly interested in it for reframing graphics, but I'm sure there are many other situations where being able to apply effects to an entire track would come in handy.

I'm not entirely sold on 'Ghost Playhead' being the solution to this problem, it feels like it's adding a lot of visual noise, especially when combined with the I-frame seeking scenario you point out in the video.

I feel like the important information is 'This frame hasn't loaded yet', and I don't really care what wrong frame I am looking at specifically.

Perhaps a third state could be added to the dropped frame indicator to show when there is a mismatch? This would surface the most important information, and hopefully wouldn't be as complex to implement as a ghost playhead.

Despite spending hours with Adobe support on this once, they haven't been able to figure it out. I suspect the issue is due to Premiere now supporting multiple projects open at once, so there is no longer a definitive 'Project panel' in the same way there's a single 'Program Monitor', for example.

I have discovered a workaround, however, which is good enough for my workflow. The project panel seems to follow wherever the Media Browser lives. If I want the project panel to load in the top-left, for example, simply moving the Media Browser to this spot and saving the workspace seems to reliably get the project panel to show up top-left also.

Given that I often want to see both the Media Browser and Project Panel at once, this isn't ideal, but because of the way I have my workspace set up, 'parking' the Media Browser for my saved workspace and then moving it out to a different pane when I need it at least saves me from having to rearrange the sizing of everything else whenever I start a new project.

On a separate issue, Mike -
The feature you're looking for exists, under Window -> Workspaces -> Import Workspace from Projects. It's a silly spot for that option, but I've found that it does at least work for me.
