As Wes noted, we are looking at many areas for optimization and have made strides in the last few releases already.

We recognize there are still many areas to improve performance and we are investing in appropriate areas.

Threads that are catch-alls are often non-actionable. Please keep giving us specific feedback on what workflows are slow for you.

Technical solutions may not always be as obvious as some people may be suggesting as the application architecture is often very different than people’s conception.

Short answer. Yes, we want to and will make it faster.

Please try out the current Premiere Pro Beta, which includes a universal Text Engine in Premiere Pro and After Effects. With this feature, there are no longer separate text engines for Latin/East Asian and Middle Eastern/South Asian found in the preferences. This means we no longer force the user to choose based on the script they want to use – all text layers should now be interchangeable.
Also, the Paragraph Direction buttons in the Essential Graphics panel for graphics created in Premiere won’t ever be greyed out now so it is very easy to change any text layer between Left to Right and Right to Left as needed.
You can find beta versions of apps in your Creative Cloud Desktop app. On the left, under Categories, click on Beta Apps. There you can install a separate version of Premiere Pro which does not overwrite your regular installation of Premiere Pro.…

This is a great request that is certainly something we want to implement. Rest assured our engineers DO understand the importance of this feature and how to get the job done. We also know that the performance and stability of the app should be our #1 priority and that is where our focus is right now.

Currently, Premiere uses the Lanczos method for intrinsic scale and rotation. Lanczos is an exceptionally high-quality interpolation method which generally yields better results than bicubic, bilinear or nearest neighbor. From reading the forum post, it seems that up-scaling is the real issue here. I suggest looking at the Detail-Preserving Upscale effect in After Effects. It does a really good job and gives you some parameters to tweak to fit your specific content.
