    Multi-Frame Rendering is now available in After Effects public beta. We’re starting with Render Queue export, and will add support for preview, AME, MOGRTs and beyond in subsequent releases.

    This is a significant update to the After Effects architecture. Unlike older versions that rendered multiple frames by creating copies of the application, this is true multithreaded rendering. The render pipeline has been optimized from end to end, enabling After Effects to use your system to its full potential.

    We know how important rendering faster is to you. That’s why we’ve taken the time to do this right, and build a strong, high-performance foundation for the future. We appreciate your patience, and would love to hear how Multi-Frame Rendering is working on your hardware and with your projects.

    Ditto @Chris Corban and @Brad Moylan, I totally agree, I'm in the same boat. I've been teaching myself C4D this week, and after only a couple of days, going back into AE feels like time travel to the early 2000s, and a bit like driving an old jalopy. Every time I look at this thread I'm reminded of Adobe's official response to this topic:

    AEs performance priorities.
    "Rendering Performance: How fast can AE get pixels onto your screen?
    Interactive Performance: How fast does the UI respond to your actions?
    Workflow Performance: How fast can you complete a task in AE?"

    With those qualifications in mind, After Effects just doesn't hold hold up, the product development does not reflect those metrics. Adobe, please, please, please do something.

    Amen. Yes please. There are scripts that help do this but why not build it in. Would save so much hassle.

    There still is a need for layer based stuff, I use it daily. but if AE could do both intricate nodes AND layers would it would be one of a kind and unstoppable. Or at least would solve a lot of my problems. I don't think there's a need to ditch layers entirely, just add some new non-linear options.

    Had a similar issue. our workflow needs to stay at on the same version for the duration of the project, which sometimes is more than 2 years, across multiple machines. this new block of access is causing some problems. I'm sure there's some big legal reason on the other end as to why this is happening, but without the option to have a perpetual license in this subscription only model feels a lot like abandoned.

    Yes Please!!! it would be awesome if it had a way to open and intelligently parse the various types of CDLs out there, without having to write a custom script.
