I need this all the time. I'm always just bashing something together and then I go to throw some music on it and it freezes up and I haven't saved a version yet so I lose an hour here and there but that adds up. It's not enough to blame us for not saving. It's 2021 we shouldn't have to wrry about saving anything anymore. That's such an antiquated user experience. Never understood it to begin with.

Why does a program that has 99% of the market share have to be so heavily kludged together? I’ve heard they have a very small Dev team. Why is that? And they keep coming out with “new” versions. They could clearly update their interface and trim a lot of fat and get rid of a lot of really bad legacy decisions such as focus stealing. That audio issue that f*cks up RAM preview. And update all of the effects so we don’t have to use 3rd party plugins. Why do I need to use trapcode? Why isn’t there a chroma or decent motion blur? Or depth blur? Or film grain that doesn’t take forever to render? Why does the collapse transforms button do so much stuff? Sometimes I want transforms to work and still use my effects. How about adding h264 back to the render queue? Why even have all of the basic effects that have been in AE for 25 years without updating them? Len flare? Glow? All of that needs to be updated. You have the money Adobe.

Seriously, it’s embarrassing. There is zero benefit of After effects stealing focus. Why? Please, stop it. It makes no sense. Y’all ignore my tweets about it. It drives me nuts. No App should ever steal focus. Take some pride in your products. Thank you. I can’t believe I have to tell you this.

boost this! yes please! I don't understand why there has to be Mask paths and shape layer paths. There must be a way to consolidate these features. It feels kludged together.

Hi Yes!! Thank you. So, I believe it’s a known problem with animating multilayer PSDs. What happens is AE loads the frames into Ram and then nothing. No playback. Now, I know animating multilayer PSDs is not the ideal workflow but guess what? People are doing it. Designer are still designing photoshop. Handing it to animators who think to themselves I’ll just keep the animation assets in the multilayer psd because it’s available and seems like a clean way of working without realizing or caring it will probably break later. I’m guilty of that. I’m on a project right now like that. Where I’m holding the conform for all of these projects that were built this way. RAM preview doesn’t work. But if you think about it. Ram preview is only useful for previewing small sections. Why not do a full render if it doesn’t take too long? That’s fine for this project and we’re nearing the end. But if this was a little more of a comp intensive project we’d probably have to break out the assets and then ram preview might work. Thanks for responding.

Please, add back a simple light codec like h264. Preferably h264. AME is garbage and I would never use it except I have to now. The decision to remove this was ludicrous. No here we are 8 years later. Clients and studios still ask for h264. I have to wait for AME to get its **** together. It’s slow. It’s awkward. The default settings are trash. It feels like a 30 year old program. Just let me render from the render queue and trim the fat for crissakes. Get all of those effects and codecs no one uses out of there.

Adobe you are absolutely blowing it. I’m at a major studio and am trying to render and I can’t because of this. We can’t update to the latest AE because the studio isn’t able to update to windows 10 for some probably very legitimate reasons. Now I hear you are implementing some sort of legal thing where you can sue for using older versions of software? Unbelievable.

Why hasn't After Effects made some kind of statement regarding this? Offered an alternative workflow? Anything?
