    Hi Fredrik,

Thank you for reporting this issue. This was recently fixed in the most recent Beta builds of After Effects 18.2, which can be downloaded from within the Creative Cloud app in the "Beta apps" section. If possible, please try out the fix in the Beta and let us know if it is working as expected.

    Thanks again,

    Hi Espen,

Thank you for reporting this issue. It sounds like the Draft 3D mode might be enabled, which disables blending modes, similar to this reported issue: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911311/suggestions/43007349. If you switch a layer in your comp to 3D temporarily, is the Draft 3D mode enabled? Please let us know either way and we can try other troubleshooting steps.

Thanks very much for any further information,
    John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Isabell,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Would you be able to share a project file that demonstrates the difference in the sourceRectAtTime values when opened in 18.1 versus previous versions?

Post a link to your files here, or if you prefer not to post publicly you can send it to aebugs@adobe.com.

If you send to that address:
    A) Do not send .zip files, they will be blocked; renaming to .thisisazipfile is OK.
    B) Post a comment here when you have sent the email. We'll need to manually check that inbox.

Thanks very much for any further information,

    Hi Ondřej,

Thanks very much for reporting this issue. If you open Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and click "V" on the keyboard graphic, what command(s) are mapped to the "None" modifier in the list on the lower-right? If there is more than one, please let us know what commands are listed.

A potential fix might be removing any commands other than "Selection". If you give that a try, please let us know if that resolves the issue.

Thanks very much for any further information,

    Hi Erhan,

Thank you for reporting this issue. The behavior you describe sounds like a possible bug; the ability to scale footage with the mouse has not been removed. Would you be able to post a link to a screen recording showing the issue you are experiencing? And what are your system specs and OS version?

Thanks very much for any additional information, I hope we can get to the bottom of this.

    Hi Zachary,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Does the same issue occur no matter what the composition/footage size is? If you change the resolution of your screen, does that change the available options?

Thanks very much for any additional information,

    Hi Shayne,

Thank you for making this report. When the Timeline is zoomed in, the time ruler is currently designed to switch from showing seconds to showing frames ( the "f" shown is for frames. ) In most situations, showing frames rather than portions of seconds is preferred for precise animation since it provides a better sense of timing in relation to the frame rate. Could you provide an example of when it would be preferable to see the seconds subdivided instead?

Thanks very much for your feedback!

    Hi Paula,

Could you provide more detail on the looping playback bug you are experiencing? Steps to reproduce or a screen recording would help us to diagnose what might be going on. Is this still occurring for you in the latest version of After Effects? The latest version is 17.7 as of this comment.

Playback issues are often hardware or driver-related, so your system specs and OS version would be helpful as well.

Thanks very much for any further information,

    Hi Joe,

Thank you for filing this report. What is the expression on the layer which causes AE to lock up when you duplicate it? I'm not able to reproduce the issue in either the JS expression engine or legacy ExtendScript engine with a simple property reference to a Layer Control, so something about the expression itself is likely a component.

Thanks very much for any additional information,

    Hey dudes,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Could you please post your system specs and OS version? There might be an incompatibility between your hardware and the new Draft 3D mode.

Thanks very much for any further info,

    Hi Kalleheikki,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, we aren't able to reproduce what you're describing; setting the Frame Rate in the Preview panel to values less than 5 still plays back on our test machines in a composition with FPS set to 24 or 29.97.

What is the FPS of your composition? And is the goal to play the composition back more slowly or to preview fewer frames? The "Skip" parameter in the Preview panel allows for the preview of fewer frames.

Thanks very much for any additional info you can provide,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Ariel,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We've been able to reproduce this crash as well and found it to be caused by an incompatibility with a component of a third-party extension called Templater. Do you have this extension installed, and if so, does uninstalling it allow you to send compositions to AME?

Thank you again for the report,

    Hi Sean,

Thank you for reporting this issue. In trying to reproduce it on our end, I noticed that only renamed footage doesn't have its name updated when it is replaced. Footage that still has its original name does have its name updated when it is replaced. Is this the same as the behavior you are seeing?

    Thanks again,

    Hi Bruno,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Auto-save should absolutely work regardless of what's going on, even if the previous auto-save is locked or otherwise can't be deleted. In our testing, After Effects should present a warning that the file cannot be deleted and then proceed to auto-save a new copy even though it exceeds the Maximum Project Versions set in Preferences > Auto-Save.

In your case where version control is locking auto-saved projects, does AE show the error I've described? What is your Maximum Project Versions set to and what is the time duration between auto-saves?

Thanks very much for any additional information,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Andrei,

Thank you for submitting this issue. It looks like the different Text layers might have Ligatures turned off, which is a per-layer option like typeface or leading. Enabling or disabling Ligatures would have the effect you've shown when linking layers with them on and off.

See the attached screenshot for where to find the Ligatures option in the Character panel; you will likely need to resize the panel from its default size to see the Ligatures option. Let us know if you still see the issue when toggling Ligatures on or off to match the Text layers from 17.1.4 and earlier.

    Cheers,

    Hi Laurence,

Thank you very much for reporting this bug. Is this bug still occurring for you in the latest 18.0 version of After Effects or the latest After Effects (Beta) build? In importing a file with ö and ç characters in the name, I did not experience the characters changing when referenced by expressions with layer.source.name or layer.name.

Would you be able to submit a screen recording of the issue in action or more specific steps to be able to reproduce it?

Also, what language is After Effects running in when you encounter this issue? Is it the same as the OS language?

Thanks very much for any additional information,

    Hi Dieter,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Does this still occur in the latest 18.0 version of After Effects? If so, is it with any audio file or only specific audio file types?

Sometimes the rendering of video frames can cause audio to playback at a lower pitch as the video renders. Try doing an audio-only preview using the Numpad . key ( or control + . on macOS ) to see if that helps.

    Cheers,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team
