    Hi Matt,

Thank you for reporting this issue, and sorry to hear that this is getting in the way of your work. Do the errors happen with only one project or has it happened in more than one?

Would you be able to share the project that is throwing errors? If you convert the Team Project to a local project, does it still throw the same errors when undoing, moving layers, etc? To try this, you can using Edit > Team Projects > Convert Team Projects to Project.

Thanks again for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,

    Hi Luther,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We are currently investigating the type of memory allocation issue you're reporting here. When After Effects is only able to render 2-5 frames, are there any other Adobe applications running at the same time? If so, does closing those applications allow After Effects to preview the expected number of frames?

Thanks again for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,

    Hi Sefton,

Thanks for taking the time to make this report. The Text Animator in the screenshot you've attached is usually named "Animator 1", "Animator 2", etc by default, so it appears that the group was renamed after being created. Do you see this misspelling when you create a Text Animator? Perhaps a script or someone else working on the project previously renamed it incorrectly?

Thanks for any further information you can provide,

    Hi Esther,

Thanks for making this report. In the screen recording you shared, it looks like you were applying the Change to Color effects to the "Audio Amplitude" null layers above the video footage layer, rather than to the footage layer itself. If you apply the Change to Color effect to the video layers below the Null layer (e.g. layers 6–8), does the effect begin to change the look of the video clip?

Thanks for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,

    Hi Johannes,

I'm sorry to see that you're experiencing this crash and thank you for taking the time to submit this report. When After Effects crashes, have you been prompted to submit a crash report with your email address?

Resetting the preferences may help if the most recently used typeface is causing a crash. Close After Effects, then rename the "22.6" folder in ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects to "22.6 crashing" and then relaunch After Effects. If that works, it would be very helpful to use if you could share the crashing preferences with our team so we can further investigate this crash.

Thanks again for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,

    Hi Kevin,

Thanks again for reporting this issue. We were able to reproduce the error with your project and we are investigating a fix for future versions of After Effects.

In After Effects 22.6, the simplest workaround for this issue is to choose "Mercury Software Only" for the renderer in the Project Settings under Video Rendering. That should allow the project to render successfully.

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for making this report. Would you be able to share the crashing project + CSV file or the crashing .mogrt with us?

If so, please post a link to your files here, or if you prefer not to post publicly you can send it to aebugs@adobe.com.

If you send to that address:
    A) Do not send .zip files, they will be blocked; renaming to .thisisazipfile is OK.
    B) Post a comment here when you have sent the email. We'll need to manually check that inbox.

Thanks again for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,

    Hi Austin,

It looks like you've again grabbed the After Effects Prefs file from After Effects 22.5. Have you updated to After Effects 22.6? If you have updated and are still seeing this issue, please share the "After Effects Log.txt" file from the logs folder inside the 22.6 preferences folders.

    Cheers,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Austin,

You'll need to use the "Attach a File" button in the comment field in order to attach the "After Effects Log.txt" file. Make sure you upload the file from the "logs" folder and not your After Effects Prefs.txt.

    Thanks very much,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

In that case, would you be to capture a log so we can see more information about what After Effects is doing? To create a log file:

    1. In the Help menu, select "Enable Logging" and restart After Effects as prompted.
    2. Attempt to save, import, or pre-compose.
    3. Open the Preferences > General dialog
    4. Select "Reveal Preferences in Finder"
    5. Open the "logs" folder in the revealed preferences folder.

Grab the "After Effects Log.txt" file and post a link to it here, or if you prefer not to post publicly you can send it to aebugs@adobe.com.

If you send to that address:
    A) Do not send .zip files, they will be blocked; renaming to .thisisazipfile is OK.
    B) Post a comment here when you have sent the email. We'll need to manually check that inbox.

Hope we can get to the bottom of this,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

In that case, you may need to reset the application preferences. Follow these steps:

    1. Close After Effects
    2. Open ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/
    3. Rename the "22.6" folder to "22.6 previous"
    4. Relaunch After Effects.

This will create a new 22.6 folder with default preferences. Does this allow the dialogs to show up again?

Thanks for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,

Thank you for that video, it looks like you're experiencing a different issue than I initially thought. For the problem shown in your video, please try updating to After Effects 22.6 if you haven't already. There was an issue fixed in After Effects 22.6 that would prevent dialogs from being shown, which might be the issue you are encountering.

    Thanks again,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi there,

Thank you for reporting this problem. When this happens, try clicking the After Effects icon in the Dock and see if that allows you to access the top-level menus and right-click menus. There is a fix in progress for this issue, so please let us know if this works for you.

    Thanks again,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Poul,

It is possible to scale a layer from the top in After Effects. In order to do this, you'll need to move the Anchor Point in the middle of the Shape to the top, side, etc, that you want it to scale from using the Pan Behind (Anchor Point) tool in the toolbar.

    Cheers,

    Hi Michele,

Thank you for reporting this issue, sorry to hear that this is happening in 22.6 on your system. Would you mind sharing the specs of your M1 Mac system?

For us to further investigate, it would be helpful if you could send us a project file that demonstrates the rendering slowdown. Please post a link to your files here, or if you prefer not to post publicly you can send it to aebugs@adobe.com.

    Hi Benjamin,

Thank you for reporting this issue. There is a fix for this issue included in After Effects 22.6, which was made available in the Creative Cloud app this week. Please try again in that version and let us know if you continue to see any issues with collecting files.

We are very happy to announce that starting with After Effects (Beta) 23.0x11, H.264 is now available as an option in the Output Module Settings dialog allowing you to encode to H.264 directly from the AE Render Queue.

More information on the Beta builds and rendering H.264 is available on the After Effects (Beta) forums: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-beta-discussions/feature-focus-exporting-h-264-from-the-after-effects-render-queue/td-p/13117618

Thank you for all your input on this. Please give the Beta a try and let us know how this feature is working for you.

    Hi Basem,

Thank you very much for reporting this issue, sorry to hear you are experiencing this crash with Arabic text. Would you able to provide a .csv file that causes the issue for you, as well as the steps you take when the crash occurs? This will help us to reproduce the issue in order to diagnose it. E.g. does the crash occur when you import the .csv, or when you link a Source Text property to the csv data?

Thanks for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,

    Hi Patrick,

Thank you for reporting this issue, and sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Thank you for including the version info and your system specs!

On a Windows system with an Nvidia GPU, I tried rendering a comp using the Camera Lens Blur effect on HD footage without a Blur Map layer set, both for preview and through the Render Queue, but I didn't experience any crashes or failures to render. Would you be able to share your project and assets with us so that we can diagnose what might be failing? If not, a screen share of the issue occurring would be extremely helpful as well.

Additionally, does the Crash Report dialog show up when you crash? If you submit a crash report with your email, that will also help us to further investigate the issue.

Thanks for reporting this issue and for any further information you can provide,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

We're very excited to announce that Selectable Track Mattes are now available in the public beta builds! Selectable Track Mattes work just like parenting, allowing you to pick any layer in your composition, no matter where it sits in the layer stack, as a Track Matte source for any other layer.

You'll need to update to version 23.0 build 8 or later to try it out. Learn more here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-beta-discussions/feature-focus-selectable-track-matte-layers-have-arrived/td-p/13110013
