    Hi Luis,

We have been able to reproduce this issue and found two workarounds:

    1. Disabling "Hardware Accelerate Composition, Footage, and Layer Panels" in Preferences > Display should allow the comps to render correctly.

    2. The issue appears to be fixed in the latest Beta builds of After Effects (Beta) v22.1.

If you are able to try this out in the Beta to confirm the fix, please let us know if the issue appears fixed for you as well.

    Cheers,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Luis,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, we aren't able to reproduce the behavior you've described. Would you be able to provide a little more detail about your project settings and system? This will help us to determine the possible causes of the bug and hopefully reproduce it in-house.

    - In what version of After Effects are you seeing the bug?
    - What OS and OS version are you using?
    - What GPU and driver version do you have installed? ( if any )
    - What are the project settings? E.g. GPU or software renderer, color depth, etc.
    - Other than the 128x128 resolution, what are the composition settings? E.g. which 3D renderer is being used?

A screen recording or a link to a project file would be very helpful as well.

Thanks so much for any further information,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Emma,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Thank you as well for the screen recording; that made the issue very clear and easy for us to reproduce.

In After Effect 18.4.1, try disabling "Hardware Accelerate Composition, Footage, and Layer Panels" in Preferences > Display. This appears to work around the problem in AE 18.4.1, allowing the layers to render as expected.

It also looks like this issue is fixed in the latest Beta builds ( After Effects Beta 22.1 ). If you have a chance, please try your project in the Beta and see if the issue also appears fixed for you there.

Thanks again for the report and the screen recording,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Robert,

Thanks very much for answering those questions and for sending the project with images. That is a huge help. I've opened a ticket internally for a deeper investigation into the PNG rendering difference that was introduced in version 17.7.0. If there are any updates or further questions, I'll share them here.

    Thank you again,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Robert,

Thank you for reporting this issue! For us to further investigate, it would be helpful if you could send us a .png file that demonstrates the issue, with a project if possible. Ideally, the project would demonstrate the color difference when opened in 17.7 versus 18.x or higher.

Post a link to your files here, or if you prefer not to post publicly you can send it to aebugs@adobe.com.

If you send to that address:
    A) Do not send .zip files, they will be blocked; renaming to .thisisazipfile is OK.
    B) Post a comment here when you have sent the email. We'll need to manually check that inbox.

Additionally, the following info would help us determine potential causes of the issue:
    - What application are the .png files coming from?
    - Were the .png files saved with a specific color space embedded?
    - Does the color shift occur at color depths other than 32bpc?

Thanks very much for any additional information,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

Thank you for reporting these issues!

For the first issue with the createPath() expression, could you post a screenshot of the rendered path resulting from the expression? In 18.4.1 on macOS, the expression should return three sides of an unclosed square. If the Path property is in a Shape, layer, Do you maybe have a Round Corners modifier in the same Shape group?

For the second issue with the .style object on a Text layer, which expression engine is your project using? The .style object for Text only exists in the JavaScript expression engine, which can be set in File > Project Settings... > Expressions > Expressions Engine. If you are using the Legacy ExtendScript engine, then the .style object will not exist and you'll see the error in your comment.

    Thanks for any further information,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Mahdi,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We haven't been able to reproduce the crashing behavior with Arabic text and expressions, but some additional information might help us to track down what is happening:

    - What typeface are you using for the Text layer when the crash occurs?
    - In the Type section of the preferences, which Text Engine is in use?
    - When AE crashes, does the Crash Reporter dialog show up? Are you able to submit the crash report?

Thanks again for the report and for any further information,

    Hi Eric,

Thank you for filing this feature request. Could you provide more detail on what an "Output Folder" token would do?

Currently, After Effects has the Project Folder token, which allows you to specify a relative path from the location of the open .aep file. How might an "Output Folder" token differ from a path relative to the .aep file?

    Thanks again,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Pablo,

Thank you for reporting this issue. If you click on the header of the "Layer Name" column, the layer names should switch to the Source Name e.g. the name of the pre-comp. Is this what you are looking for?

Additionally, if you open the same project in a previous version of After Effects, do the layers show their layer name with the incrementing suffix, or do they show the source name of the pre-comp in square brackets?

    Thanks for any additional information,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Kamaljeet,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Have you tried updating the driver for your Intel HD Graphics 520 GPU? Please try updating the driver and let us know if that resolves the issue.

    Cheers,

    Hi Jan,

If you hold Alt/Option while dragging folders into the After Effects Project panel, the original folder structure should be maintained inside the project. Please give that a try and let us know if the result is what you were expecting.

    Cheers,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team

    Hi Benjamin,

Thank you for reporting this issue. Would you be able to post a screen recording on the wiggle you are seeing when moving or animating a layer along a motion path? This will help our team reproduce and diagnose what might be going on.

Thank you for any further info you can provide,
    - John, After Effects Engineering Team
