Hi -
We do see this thread and have responded multiple times, as recently as a few months ago. We know this is a request, but there are a number of complications and we have not had the capacity to take this on to date.

Hi Fadian
You can use position keyframes in the EGP to create horizontal crawls.

We understand that retiring a part of the software can create issues for some users. We are doing our best to make this a slow and steady process and are adding needed features along the way. Most importantly, we have added the ability to convert Legacy Titles into Source Graphics. While not all characteristics will translate perfectly, this should give you really good results in most cases.
We’re not just taking something away, we’re adding functionality to Essential Graphics constantly. Our team is working hard to make sure it meets your workflow needs. And if it doesn’t – we want to know about it.
If you feel that there is a specific feature missing in Essential Graphics please create a single UserVoice post for it, e.g. for Inner and Outer Strokes. This way it is much easier for others to vote on something actionable.

Hi Gary -
You can nudge EG items in the Program Monitor. It is not mapped by default to the unmodified arrow keys, because that would interfere with stepping in the timeline. The default mappings are Cmd/Ctrl + arrow key, with Shift + Cmd/Ctrl + arrow key for 5 pixel moves. You can change these in the keyboard shortcuts dialog if you want.
As for the legacy title upgrade, we know that it is not lossless. In particular, rotation is so different between the two systems that we haven't come up with a good way to convert it. Would you be willing to share a simple project with a few of the legacy titles that are causing problems for you when upgraded?

Hi Dave -
Once the transition plan is complete, all legacy titles in project will be upgraded to essential graphics automatically on project load. You can try out the first (manually controlled) upgrade in the 15.4 Beta version right now if you want, and give us feedback on how it works. It currently upgrades text layers pretty well but does not upgrade shape layers. It will also never be a pixel-for-pixel exact match for the legacy titler.
Actual legacy titler editing and render will be only be maintain in versions that actually support the legacy titler.Mike

Hi Michael -
You can control which join type is used for strokes in the EGP, so if you want the rounded joins you can choose that as a pref (EGP wing menu) or on a per-layer basis (wrench menu in the Text settings in the EGP).
The brightness issue is a known bug with some GPUs. It also happens with other kinds of transparent material. It is being worked on.

Hi Taran -
Parenting is available in the EGP ("Upgrade to Source Graphic") and is optional.
We know the pen tool still needs some work in the EGP, and it is on the list.

Hi Pierre -
Yes, we do have longer term plans to share styles in Libraries as they are compatible with Photoshop Character Styles, which currently can be loaded in libs. That will also bring thumbnails.
Note that the project items for styles all have thumbnails currently, so you can see them in bins.
Mike
An error occurred while saving the comment Mike Berry commented
Hi Pan -
The EGP system has text styles, which are a more powerful version of the text templates from the legacy titler. They will let you do the shared style workflows, and they even can be used to update all of the children that use that style. The text styles are not the same as the motion graphics templates that I think you are describing.
Multiple shadows is in process in the EGP and should be showing up in beta soon.
The upgrade legacy title feature is already in the beta builds.
If you want the ripple behavior where one title changes all of its siblings, you can upgrade an EGP item to a Source Graphic, which adds a project item which behaves like the legacy titles do.

Hi everyone -
We have not ignored this thread - every post shows up for my team. And James Strawn on my team commented on the thread way back in the beginning. But for several years there wasn't much new to talk about. We knew that eventually the legacy titler would be removed, but we also knew it wasn't about to happen.
We now do need to officially sunset the legacy titler, and so the message you now see in the app is to stimulate exactly the kind of discussion that is happening here. We know that this is disruptive for some people, and we want to help as much as we can - both by making sure that the EGP workflow has the features you need and that there are ways to smooth the transition. But the fact remains that some things are going to be different (for usually good reasons, but different nonetheless). And some legacy titler features with extremely low usage will not be brought over to the EGP.
Thanks for working with use to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Hi James -
The large majority of users we have surveyed prefer the standard EGP, un-parented, graphics. In fact, this was the top complaint (and source of confusion) about the legacy titler before the EGP was introduced. There are also things that source graphics cannot do - for example, they cannot have the intro-outro regions that regular graphics have, because those move keyframes based on the track item lengths in the timeline. The lack of keyframing in the legacy titler made this not an issue. And they also can't be rolls, because rolls are also dependent upon the track item length which can vary for different children. This is why we offer the upgrade as an option for those cases where it does make sense.
The Premiere Pro Beta can be downloaded from Creative Cloud Desktop under the Beta Apps section. It can live side by side with the official Premiere Pro app without collision. It usually has updates available every day. For features that are in development, we use the Beta forums for conversations. For example, here is a link to the post about Legacy Title Upgrade:
Mike

Hi James -
Currently in beta, the Upgrade feature is something you can do manually to a single legacy title, or all of the legacy titles in a project. For now, we also leave the legacy title around so you have a reference. Later, this will become an option on project open. And then finally, it will become an automatic requirement on project open.
Any EGP graphic can be turned into a source graphic using the menu Graphics->Upgrade to Source Graphic. This will create a project item for it in the current bin, and it will be parented in the same way that legacy titles are parented.

Hi James -
We have released the "Upgrade Legacy Title" feature in Beta so if you want to try it out you can grab that. Note that it only currently upgrades the text layers. Shapes do not come across. Let us know how much of an issue that is.
As for the automatic ripple, that has been available in the EGP for several years if you use Source Graphics, which live in your project bins just like Legacy Titles.
Finally, the EGP has a font update which will replace all uses of one font in the project with another font with a single command.

Hi Sergiu -
I am not "sending you to another forum." I'm trying to help everyone here understand our development process. The legacy titler will be going away once we believe we have filled all the needed gaps. If you want to participate in the process of helping us fill those gaps, then the beta app and forum are the right place to do it. We do listen to everything that goes into user voice, but for in-process features the beta forum is the right place.
If you don't want to participate there, then the most helpful thing to add here is very specific things that you do in the legacy titler that you can't do in the Essential Graphics panel. There are a number already listed and we are working on them, but it isn't helpful to us to simply say you don't want to change to the EGP. We have to remove the legacy titler because it is built on technologies that are being removed from the operating systems (among multiple reasons).

Hi everyone -
The beta forum is our preferred place to discuss in-process work like the ongoing work related to sunsetting the legacy titler. We are listening to you and you will be seeing a whole set of new features over the next few months. The beta is the best way to have your voice heard as the work evolves, and we do value the feedback that we get, both here and there.

Hi Todd -
You can drop the Drop Shadow video filter into the EGP layer stack to add a drop shadow to any layer or group of layers.

Hi Ittsui -
You can save the whole graphic as a Motion Graphics Template with all the effects in place. Then you simply replace the text when you add it in a new location, and all the styling will be preserved, including the additional drop shadows.
Note that this also allows you to add any other video effects which might be interesting.
Mike

Hi ittsui -
You can do multiple shadows now, by adding as many copies of the drop shadow effect to your graphic as you want. You can use groups if you want to limit the additional shadows to specific sections of your graphic.

Hi Elliot -
This is what is called smart quotes. They are actually different character codes. For an srt, if the srt contains the correct character codes for open and close quotes, then they should translate into captions. It is a known limitation that you cannot type smart quotes into AE mogrts in the EGP. You can, however, paste in content with open and close quotes and they will be preserved.

Hi Loren -
If you have a caret placed with the type tool, you should not see JKL playback, you should see the letters j, k, and l typed. Can you post a screenshot of what your PGM looks like when you are seeing JKL playback?
The EGP also has the same keyboard shortcuts for kerning that the legacy titler has. There is no keyboard shortcut for tracking in either the legacy titler or the EGP.

Hi Matt -
PPro composites onto black when the transparency grid is off. Can you post a screenshot with the same background in both apps? Without that, I can't tell which color you are saying is incorrect.

Hi Matt -
You are compositing over transparent in AE and over black in Pr, which is leading to the differences I can see. Is there some other difference besides the background color?

Hi Pierre -
The EGP/PGM has nudge for graphic layers. We do not assign them to the arrow keys by default because that would interfere with stepping the playhead. The default assignments are cmd-arrow for nudge 1 pixel and shift-cmd-arrow to nudge 5 pixels. You can reset these to whatever you want in the keyboard shortcut dialog though.

Hi David -
Thanks for the additional info. There is not a bunch we can do about how 3rd parties make their mogrts other than ask nicely. We do try to make sure that the mogrts on Adobe Stock are standardized.
You can add tags to any mogrt on your machine (though right now you have to do it 1 at a time by opening the info window). You can also rename any mogrt (use the right-click context menu). There is not a way to replace the thumbnail or to add a video preview.
An error occurred while saving the comment Mike Berry commented
Hi David -
I have a few questions to start with. Are these mogrts made in AE or Pr? Are you the author, or are you getting these from someone else? The thumbnail is determined by the author, so there is no need for them to be black. And if they are created in Pr, they can also optionally have a preview video.

Hi Lindsay -
The EGP has two options for this:
- You can save any graphic as a Motion Graphics template to reuse whenever you want.
- You can do the same workflow you did with the LT and save graphics in a template project (either on a sequence, or upgraded as Source Graphics in a bin).Mike

I wanted clarity on one of your comments: "Back to the shape options, the Pen tool is present in LT while it is not an option in the Essential graphics." There is a pen tool in the EGP. Is some aspect of it not working for you?

Hi Clint -
For various historical reasons, there is a special subset of commands in Pr which get to override text edit behavior. Option-; is in that subset, Opt-i is not. I realize this is pretty much magical and invisible to the user, but there are other things that would break if we let all key combinations through to text edit fields.

Hi Zak -
I think I misunderstood your request. I thought you were asking for the equivalent of protected regions when authoring mogrts in Pr. But now I think you are requesting that markers from the AE comp be visible in Pr when the AE mogrt is applied. Am I correct?

Hi Zak -
Premiere Pro does have a version of this - the Intro and Outro ranges that you can set on a mogrt/graphic in the EGP and ECP.

Hi Tom -
If you press the shift key after you start dragging a new ellipse or rectangle, it will lock the H and V and make a perfect circle/square.
Mike
Hi Marco -
Graphics in the EGP also support rolls with the same settings as the Legacy Titler, no keyframing needed. You will need to use keyframes if you want to create crawls.
