    All,

first of all I wanted to thank everyone for making this a productive conversation over the last couple of days.

As several people responded to my comment about keeping the tone civilised, I need to dwell on that for a minute. Please hear me out, this is important to everyone on my crew and I hope it will be to you.

Saying that we shouldn't be surprised when things get heated is very problematic in my opinion. How do you expect a junior person on my team to respond to a technical question when it is combined with something that can easily be described as hate speech? How do you think we can actually come together on actual issues when there's already the assumption that we're a big faceless corporation, not even listening to our customers?

People on my team have received threats. I've been there over the years,…

Yea, i just have to add to how much I dislike the export pane.

It does feel like an attempt at DaVinci’s interface, and my biggest complaint with DaVinci is it’s lack of customization, and this has no customization.

I never use automatic upload to any site because the file needs to be checked before being uploaded to check for glitches, that don’t appear until export. And honestly that is why I never use the preview window either, i need to check the actual export. This means I don’t need to ever see the options to export to different locations or the preview pane (maybe a small timeline to check that in and out points are correct).

I also hate inefficiency, and for me something taking more clicks that used to take less is less efficient. Just as the initial redesign of the top bar was less efficient by hiding workspaces (and adobe added them back because of user feedback), the drop down arrows are less efficient. And at the least a preference to always have them open would certain help with efficiency.

Also the whole using media encoder thing. I tend not to do this because I often have issues with complicated projects having problems exporting using media encoder that work with export pane, so I usually stick with export as it always works, but that leaves me with the new interface.

Also I don't often have a choice on which version to use, as that is dictated by the company I am working for. So sticking to an earlier version isn’t always my choice.

And yes there is no place for threats. That is insane or uncalled for. I do understand frustration though, especially since this is software that many of us make a living using. This does bring a level of personal feeling into the mix.

And I do understand the the frustration with the seeming pivot to prosumer, especially with the new interface coming from Rush, which is decidedly prosumer. I would be so much happier with a new prosumer compression app added into mix, keeping media and export more professional. I think the problem comes with the main export being more prosumer for everyone.

Yes, I have to admit I hate the new export window so much. It is so much less efficient. It is so many more clicks to do the same thing, and I hate less efficiency. I want some preference that automatically opens all drop down menus.

I also never export directly to a web site, as I always check my export first. So I never need automatic upload.

I also never use the preview window. I could use some small timeline to see my in and out points, but that is it.

The windows needs to be fully customizable.

The name dialogue just doesn’t function how it used to, and I find it much less efficient.

I never like multiple clicks where it used to take one.

If there is no going back, then maybe an option that if I open a preset, it automatically fully opens, so I never have to hit more.

Changing font size would be great too, as it is way too big.

And I never use the preview window, literally never. Should be able to turn it off, and just show a small timeline so can see in to out.

Also a way to customize the whole export window. I never ever would upload a video without checking it first, so all the export to services are useless to me. I would like to turn them off, except maybe an upload to Frame.

This is not a bug, it’s as designed. We specifically limit the visibility to one track at a time to avoid accidentally burning in multiple tracks. Also, when exporting to a format that only supports one captions stream like SRT or STL, we need to know which is the active track in order to export the correct track.

But I understand why you might need two tracks visible at the same time.

    Multiple speakers:
If we could automatically identify speakers and designate a style associated with them, would that help? For example speaker 1 is blue and on the left, speaker 2 is yellow and on the right?

    Multiple languages:
Do you ever need to burn in both at the same time or is it just a matter of being able to see both to aid in translation and alignment?

Thanks for the feedback, we really are listening :)

We hear your frustrations about color management and we are working on multiple improvements.

I recently posted a note on Alister Chapman's excellent xdcam-user.com forum, in response to a post he'd made about color management in Premiere Pro.

While my response doesn't go into details on our long term plans, it describes what we're doing in the short term to make handling of log footage easier.

    Here's what I wrote:

    Hi all,

I’m a product manager at Adobe, on the video team. I thought I’d chime in to provide some info on what we’re doing.

Color management is not going away – quite the opposite. As HDR-capable cameras and displays are becoming the default, and shooting in log or raw is becoming the norm, color management is critical. Gone are the days of only Rec709, the one color space to rule them all.

You might have seen reports about HDR…

Yea the not being able to crate proxies for 120p footage is a pain, especially since compressor deals with 120 footage fine.

It is pretty hard to force a client to do anything. We don't know what computer they are working on or what their software is. Most will just double click a file to view it. We can try to say use VLC, but there is no guarantee.

Yes it would be great to be able to chose your default render codec, instead of having to do quicktime custom.

I don't even want it to ask, I want it to respect the organization I have created. Every one of my projects is the same, but when I import footage and it makes duplicated folders with the same name, then something is wrong. If I already have a folder with the same name, please PUT IN THAT FOLDER INSTEAD OF MAKING A NEW ONE!

Yes, I thought that turning off Scale Motion Effects Proportionally when changing frame size would help, but it does not. I don't want these to scale normally, unless I tell it to scale them.

Yes when using essential graphics and resizing a sequence, most of the time I do no want it to rescale the graphics automatically, I can see where I might want this as an option, but I want them to stay the same size and let me resize or move as I see fit.

Yes please fix this ASAP. Don't want to export an XML and re-import to get audio back with correct names and metadata. And if that is the case, the info must still be in there, fix Merge Clips please!

Yes yes yes. I currently use PostHaste from DigitalRebellion to do this, so that my projects are always consistent, but would much rather have this built into Premiere. Of course it does more than just a project template, as it also allows a folder structure for that project on the finder level. So your project files can always be organized the same way!
