Yes, experiencing this same exact behavior. On a Mac Pro 7,1 / Big Sur 11.6.1 / PPro 15.4.2.
This was not an issue in previous versions. However, it is known that when PPro is hidden or in BG, autosave will sometimes cause the program to crash. Separate issue.

Anyways, there's a forum thread going on about this here. Someone using PPro v22 is also having this issue. Someone on Windows 10 is not having this issue.

However, within Davinci Resolve, you have output scaling options, which is absolutely essential when dealing with different frame sizes and aspect ratios. Nowadays, with the amount of digital content being made in aspect ratios such as 4:5, 1:1, 9:16... the external monitor stretches it out to fit the 16:9 screen. It's hard to work with your creative teams in this way.
We have a workaround for it, but it adds extra steps and time to the post workflow. It would be really nice to have control over how to present your different aspect ratio edits on natively 16:9 monitors.
Although it could be a BMD driver limitation, but they were able to code this feature into Resolve.
