    Hello,

We have never supported embedded captions into MP4 files. We support embedded captions in MXF OP1a, and QuickTime (608 Only).

If the broadcaster requires .MP4, sidecar is the only currently supported option.

    Hello,

Is the 'Disable video output when in background' box checked or unchecked?

    Thanks,

This feature exists in Premiere Pro 13.1.3 and above. It is accessed by opening the Captions Import Setting window in the Caption Block.

You will need to use the Caption Settings dialog located in the Captions Inspector. You can set caption styling import settings there.

Are you still seeing this issue? If so can you send me a sample file?

PS - we did add a new parser logic to read incorrectly formatted files, so it should work regardless now.

The files (created and downloaded from YouTube) are missing the UTF-8 indicator, so Premiere reads it as ASCII text. If you open the files in notepad and save as with UTF8 option, they are read correctly.

    Thanks for your help!

Hello Mr. Matson, this is working for me, so if you could give me some more details it would help. What is your system configuration? Also do you have an .STL file you could send me?

    Message it to https://www.facebook.com/PremiereNate

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I haven't seen this bug before. Can you send me a copy of the project file? My email is mcfadden@adobe.com

I don't need any of the video assets, but can you send the SRT file?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

For H.264, using sidecar formats is the recommended workflow. That is how current YouTube captioning works.

    Thanks for reaching out.

Hello, I have added this format to the back log of requested formats. To clarify this is line 21 VANC encoding and not 'embedding'. Embedding is done at the video wrapper level. The options for embedded captions are:

    AS-10
    AS-11
    DNxHR/DNxHD
    JPEG2000 MXF OP1a
    MXF OP1a
    QuickTime (608 Only)

    Thanks for the feedback.

Also, what format of Captions are you using? Doing two layers of Captions will create two streams and that is not a recommended workflow.

    Hello Marios,

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with captions. If you send me the project, no media needed, I'll take a look.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

This sounds like you are attempting to embed to a format that doesn't support 708 captions (QuickTime, for example). This is currently by design, sidecars are the only supported workflow for 708 or 608 with 708 captions.

    Hello Jim,

While I'm glad to hear the output is right, the preview should match as well.

What codec are you using and what format of captions? If you have a project file (no media needed except the caption file - if used) you can send to my facebook account - https://www.facebook.com/PremiereNate and I can take a look.

This is how it currently works unless I misunderstand your statement. Can you post a screenshot or video of what you are seeing?

    Thanks,

How was the .srt file created? Can you send me a copy?

Possible workaround is to open in notepad and save with UTF-8 option.

    Hello Lee,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

We did fix a bug similar to this, but I need to know exactly how you get into this state. How do you create captions? In the caption editor? In the time line? What format of captions? What is the format of the project?

    Thanks!
