Hi Andrew,
your comments are as thoughtful as they are timely.
While I usually would have to close this item as it isn’t specific enough, I’m gonna leave it open so others can see this and add comments:Please come back and vote for exactly the items that you feel need a V2, some polish, or just remove friction in areas that have grown over time. Add a new request if what you’d like to see revised isn’t discussed yet.
We’re already seeing good patterns on User Voice as to which items and areas would be good candidates for upcoming releases. You can see some of the top runners already marked as “Under Review”. And while that won’t tell you with which release exactly we’ll have things ready for you, it’s an indicator of an investment we’re making to improve features and workflows where most users express their needs.
Cheers,…

While we are not considering removing this long-requested feature, we hear you on the room for improvement.
Thank you for your feedback

As Wes noted, we are looking at many areas for optimization and have made strides in the last few releases already.
We recognize there are still many areas to improve performance and we are investing in appropriate areas.
Threads that are catch-alls are often non-actionable. Please keep giving us specific feedback on what workflows are slow for you.
Technical solutions may not always be as obvious as some people may be suggesting as the application architecture is often very different than people’s conception.
Short answer. Yes, we want to and will make it faster.

The project panel within Premiere always resets to default (icon view and default metadata display) when I open the project. I'm experience this on V12.1.2 (July 2018 release) in team projects.

I've been trying to open my team project in After Effects in order to import a stand alone AE project file that contains a composition I want to dynamically link between my team Premiere and After Effects project.
Currently there is no direct solution to get an After Effects comp imported or copied over to a team project. Theoretically there are work arounds that include converting the Pr Pro team project into a stand alone project, THEN bringing in the AE comp, and converting the Pr Pro project back into a team project. I can't imagine what issues this may cause including media linking, etc.
Same issue, it just hangs on the opening team project dialog box. Have to force quit the program.

This worked for me, even though I'm on a mac:
re: Alan: "I have found that deselecting everything in the project panel allows me to use the usage drop down again. Can someone else confirm this?
I am on windows 10."
I second the performance bottlenecks on Macs... specifically the iMac Pro in which Premiere does not effectively utilize the multi-core processors and the graphics cards during playback. Lag is a huge issue when not using proxies even for 1080p footage.
