The Beatrig Sidekick plugin seems to cause digital noise, certainly when used with submixes.

Far better for Adobe to replicate the side-chaining that is available in Audition.

Best option would be an offset option (default 50% to match current behaviour)

0% - show only timeline after playhead
100% - show only timeline before playhead

15% - show *mostly* after playhead (something like this is what I want)

Is it better to allow removing those presets or simply have an interface that is simpler with the most common delivery formats? Should there be a progressive disclosure for those that want access to more settings but not necessarily expose that?

We recognize that there are a million settings in Premiere Pro and AME – most of which are irrelevant to many users. It’s an interesting discussion on how Export should be designed so we are genuinely interested in hearing more from people about what they’d like to see.

Exports don't bother me so much (although a simplified view showing only user presets would help efficiency).

Sequence presets are not only full of unnecessary items to navigate, they have to be reloaded every time a custom preset is created.

I tend to go and remove them at the OS level when they get really annoying, usually about a week before I upgrade to a new version that puts them all back in again.

In Avid we use it for a number of reasons.

Add edit to all tracks - shows a sync point

Add edit to single empty track - g to beats - then can drop clips to those edits (like a temporary marker)

Add edit to empty track ('filler' in avid speak) then you can trim with it, eg assymetrically.

In Avid filler acts as an adjustment layer -so add edits there mark the extents of where you want to apply an effect.

Another advantage of 'filler' versus 'null' is that audio dissolves can be 'centred on cut' at all times.

Do you have the production stored on Google drive or similar? I think I saw a similar issue.

For me it would be saved with the project metadata. Currently I'm renaming projects

Eg ProjectA - v009 - awaiting HiRes archive.

Thanks Bruce - I thought it would be stored as part of the prodset but maybe as part of the project makes sense to.

I’m just thinking of using it for messages about state of the project - same as using Description or LogNote or Comment within the project about a sequence.

In Avid AAF can be used with video, audio or v+a.

So, like PP when it creates an AAF for ProTools, makes consolidated (trimmed) or full copies of all the audio media - either embedded or seperate. Avid can do this for video + audio.

It can consolidate (retains native format) or transcode, and has seperate options for v+a (eg you can 'link' video + consolidate audio).

It also can import its own AAFs, even if embedded.

So an embedded, consolidated AAF is a good way to archive a cut.

I think PP would have to sort out woeful project media management to get this to work though.

@bruce I think they've probably got a sequence or clip focussed/selected - either in program or source monitor, or in a timeline, or in a bin.

Lots of places where you may have a reference to media + need to find similar media - likely to be in a similar project.

Personally I haven't found the need for it, usually match frame + reveal in project suffices

This is not a bug, it’s as designed. We specifically limit the visibility to one track at a time to avoid accidentally burning in multiple tracks. Also, when exporting to a format that only supports one captions stream like SRT or STL, we need to know which is the active track in order to export the correct track.

But I understand why you might need two tracks visible at the same time.

    Multiple speakers:
If we could automatically identify speakers and designate a style associated with them, would that help? For example speaker 1 is blue and on the left, speaker 2 is yellow and on the right?

    Multiple languages:
Do you ever need to burn in both at the same time or is it just a matter of being able to see both to aid in translation and alignment?

Thanks for the feedback, we really are listening :)

Surely make it an option 'allow multiple caption tracks to be displayed' ?

Mainly the advantage of this would be to see audio waveforms independent from
    + simultaneous with composite video.
