    That would certainly be nice.

I have had the same issue for a version or two. It's not solely this person's machine or OS. I'm on macOS 10.13.16.

If I play audio only (traditionally the . key) it plays off a few frames, generally it cuts off the beginning of a word in a voiceover. If I play with any video source, even just having it set to overlays, it plays fine. It's a sync issue of some sort. If there's video it seems to sync and sort of genlock together properly. If you only play audio, the audio is out of sync with where it should be in the timeline. It seems to be about 4-5 frames in my case.

My studio mate doesn't have that issue, and he's on Windows 10. The main difference I can see is that our Japanese friend's computer and my computer are running AMD GPUs. My mate's computer is running nVidia. I've tried with GPU accel on and off though and it makes no difference. No matter what I tried, nothing fixes it but adding a video preview, which kind of defeats the point.

I agree. Custom sorting would be super handy. Then I can stop putting underscores in front of main comps.

This is still going on with the latest update 16.1.1 (Build 4). Now it's even worse for me actually. It beachballs for about 5-10 seconds first. After that, I can sometimes undo again without it freezing, but it still doesn't update the viewer.

I've tried this without Labels and it doesn't seem to make a difference for me. But I suppose it could be another script.

I'm on the latest version by the way.

I don't know if it's just me or not, but doing simple things like changing a color of a shape or text and then hitting undo leaves the old color. It must be caching the frame because moving the current time indicator fixes it. It's a little annoying if you're doing an AB comparison using undo/redo. Oddly enough, it changes in the comp preview in the project panel, but not in the actual comp viewer. Or at least it did. It stopped. Also, moving the CTI kills the undo buffer sometimes.

Thank you for filing this bug report.

Can you please clarify the problem? Screenshots would be helpful.

In the October 2018 release of After Effects CC (version 16.0), clicking into the expression field will expand the height of the expression field to fit as much of the expression as possible, but will not expand past the bottom of the Timeline panel. (In other words, it will show the whole expression if the expression is short, but it if it’s longer than can be viewed in the Timeline panel, the expression field will only be expanded to the bottom of the Timeline.)

If this is not functioning for you, please provide more detail. Or if you desire different behavior than described above, please tell us what you’d like to see changed.

Can we get it to expand past the bottom of the timeline? That would be helpful. Ideally it could even pop up into a floating window or something.

@Tim, throw is definitely helpful, but with longer datasets it doesn't work well. For example, testing data in a path property. It'd be nice to have a console like Chrome/Webkit where you can actually see all the data hierarchically. Thanks for taking a look! I also have some issues with auto-complete completing words it shouldn't and adding too many parentheses. Not sure how to deal with that. I've turned those off. Atom is a great example of one of the few autocompletes that I find works well.

I use Expressionist. It doesn't have the ability to check the values of variables while expressions run. There's no scripting access for that so third-party scripts can't do that.

No, I'm not talking about scripting. I'm only talking about expressions. The AE team said they were working on a new engine. Currently expressions are based on ECMAscript, and a really old engine. I'm hoping they're updating to Javascript, JS engine, and a new console.

I use Expressionist, but there's no way to get variable output unless you run a partial expression on something like a text layer, or a property that shows numbers and output a value there. I can't just type something like console.log(var) and have it work. No script has access to that sort of feature while it's working. A script can log to the info palette, but not while the expression is running—or log specific variables in the expression without running its own engine.

Anyway, it sounds like expressions are getting updated to use a new engine, maybe even JS vs ECMAscript so this might be moot. Maybe we'll get lucky and you can tie in libraries. That'd be pretty rad.

Oh, I'll have to check that out! I think Ukramedia just did a thing on that. Hopefully it's not too clunky. Thanks man. And I will definitely keep my eyes peeled. Expressionist is the only thing that made making that new linear wipe thing I did yesterday bearable (if you came across that on twitter).

I thought some effects did. It looks like all layer controls are broken when pasted.

This needs to be addressed. Some effects do and some don't—like Set Matte.

Look at Cinema. Time stretch as an actual box. Then option is no longer needed for that so opt+drag can duplicate keyframes. This would also allow us to reverse a group of keys properly.
