Further to my comment below, and after a few weeks of working with remuxed mkv files.. you can remux in OBS and VLC, and i've tried both. The file will import into Premiere Pro, but it doesn't behave well. You can't scrub the timeline gracefully, and if you try to position other graphics on the screen in higher layers, as soon as you touch the x/y settings in the Effect Controls panel, the graphic instantly shoots off the screen and disappears. i now have to keep punching in values in the x/y fields to position my supers. :\

Not sure where critical mass is for Adobe to respond to a feature request, but looks like 372 votes ain't it.

i'm not going to sift through 12 pages of comments to see if someone else said this, but i have this same problem. And until the team supports mkv format again (which they should!) here's a very fast workaround using the free VLC software:

    1. Media>Convert/Save
    2. + Add (add the mkv file)
    3. Convert/Save
    4. Click the wrench
    5. On the Video codec tab, select "Video" and "Keep original video track"
    6. On the Audio codec tab, select "Audio" and "Keep original audio track"
    7. Save
    8. Browse
    9. Choose a destination and give it a .mp4 filename
    10. Start

Quick and painless. Converts it to an mp4. But we shouldn't have to go through this. If free software can do it, this expensive software handle mkv files with no conversion.

@Anonymous - sounds like a bug to me.

@Antoine - it doesn't really matter what happens in the Windows API. This is about how Premiere is displaying them.

i can't quite nail down a set of steps for this one, but it seems like what's happening is that at some point, some memory buffer somewhere fills up, and i can no longer copy transitions to the clipboard. This happens more often when Premiere Pro has been open for a few hours, so i suspect a memory leak or error. But it's weird, because i can go into other software and copy/paste things with no problem. It's only transitions, and only in Premiere Pro, that are affected.

Hi, Jim. i'm using the wrong terminology - my apologies. i meant to say "Program monitor," not "Source monitor."

This is a persistent bug that hampers my workflow, because i scale transparent pngs in my videos very often. It will behave if i explicitly render the work area, but that really slows me down. And the moment the scale gets nudged, the bug recurs.

It's extremely obnoxious, and i've complained about it numerous times. Apparently, we're supposed to send bugs with reproducible steps to Adobe Support instead of here?

Yes please! Everything should be instance-able. Effects should be like MovieClip instances in Flash/Animate. Create one, name it, and apply it in different areas of your movie. Select one, modify it, and all instances update to reflect the change. This would save me literally hours.
