I’ve seen this request before for when new tracks are generated with a file, but can I clarify that you’re asking for a feature that would rename existing tracks with existing content based on the filename of the first clip added to the track? Would filenames be more useful than metadata, especially for large SFX libraries which may have less descriptive filenames?

This is adding empty regions like in Pro Tools - it's used either for notes or to designate wear to "punch in" record or looping record. This will allow us to designate the regions for ADR dialog replacement. We should be able to (1) click a track to select it and then make a time selection with the Time Selection tool (2) convert it to an empty region that then becomes a region ON THAT TRACK ONLY (3) and appears as a special area in the Marker panel AND as a region on only one track (unlike now when it appears above the timeline).
This also needs a button (or preference) to switch between light or dark region accents in case you don't them to be distracting. (the dotted lines on the timeline from Markers are SO distracting when I create markers)
