Alright! We finally got an in-house repro!! Whew! I've been chasing this ghost in the machine for quite awhile! It looks like the "Mogrt is Corrupt" issue occurs when the Motion Graphics Templates Media scratch disk is set to a folder that is nested so many levels deep or in folders with really long names that goes beyond the 260 character limit that file paths on Windows machines are limited to by default. The .aegraphic files within a Mogrt gets unpacked in the Motion Graphics Templates Media folder inside of folders with a Unique ID that also has a really long string of characters. It throws Windows over the edge to where it doesn't recognize the file path as valid.

We are looking into a workaround on our end but in the meantime, I found this article that shows where you can go in Win 10 to change this limitation. https://mspoweruser.com/ntfs-260-character-windows-10/

You can also open Project Settings and change the Motion Graphics Template Media Scratch Disk to a new location with fewer nested folders or closer to the root.

I have not been able to reproduce this issue on a Mac though. It looks to be specific to Windows. But if you are experiencing this issue on Mac please reach out 🙂
    Hope this is helpful!

    Hi Rohan,

Are you opening the project from the Auto-Save folder by chance?

    Hi Rohan,

that is so frustrating. I'm on the QE team for Motion Graphics Templates and am trying to get to the bottom of this. Would you mind sending me a couple of the corrupted Mogrts via a WeTransfer link?

Can you also tell me what version of PR you are working with and your system specs?

    Thanks you!

    Hi Aimee,

    That sounds super frustrating.
I haven't seen issues like the ones you are describing with sourceRectAtTime. It would be super helpful to get your mogrts and a project that is exhibiting this behavior. I'll reach out directly via email shortly.

We currently have an open bug on issues with responsive time that sound like they might be related to what you are seeing but I'd like to know more about your set-up to see if what you're seeing is the same flavor of bug or something different. Something we have learned is that these mogrts might get retimed unexpectedly if they have been used on a different project and are being relinked to the timing of that version.

Shooting you an email now and hope to get you back on track.

    Cheers,
    Dacia

    Hi Patrick,

I just gave this a shot in 13.1.4 and all seems to be working as expected, but maybe we're doing things differently. Are you using shapes as masks in the EGP? Its a new feature we added in 13.0. If you use the shape tools to make a shape and select the shape layer in the EGP, you'll see a checkbox that says "Mask with Shape" under the appearance options (fill, stroke, & shadow). Once you click that on, you'll see another checkbox option called "Invert." You can also use these options for Text layers themselves.
We also added the ability to Group layers together so you can target masks to only apply to specific layers within the group itself.

    Cheers,

    Hi William,

As of Premiere Pro version 13.1, you can create and save grids and guides natively within the app. You can also import guides saved from AE. :)

    Hi Bram,

The text layer itself is not a valid parameter into the EGP as it is composed of many parameters. If you twirl open the text layer, you'll see a parameter called "Source Text." This parameter is "droppable" into the EGP.

    Hi John,

The new folder was created to fix a crash that would happen when Mogrts made in newer versions of AE would load in PR. But, we didn't want to destroy any mogrts you might have in your collection, so we don't delete the original folder, or make Mogrts inaccessible by versions of PR before 12.1... 12.0 still needs to "talk" to /Essential Graphics folder.

The new "Motion Graphics Templates" re-creates all of the Mogrts we ship with and if you move your custom Mogrts into the new folder, they will be available to you again in versions of PR 12.1 and after.

We also added the ability for users to add custom paths to folders of Mogrts in 13.0 which you can point to folders saved locally or on a server. Click on the hamburger menu in the Essential Graphics Panel and select "Manage Additional Folders" to get going. :)

If you do not have 11.1 or 12.0 version of PR installed and if the 13.1.4 installer is still creating the Essential Graphics folder from scratch, that sounds like a bug.

    Cheers,
    Dacia

    Hello,

Mogrts are not supported in After Effects but they should work in Premiere.
We've had a few reports of users hitting the "Mogrt is Corrupt" error but have not been able to reproduce in-house.
Would you mind sharing a few details about the following:

    - What version of PR are you running?
    - What is the Stock ID number of the Mogrt you purchased?
    - Are you able to use any of the Mogrts that are installed with PR like the Gaming or Sports templates?

Hope we can get you back on track sooner than later,
    Dacia

    Hi John,

If you double-click on the property in the EGP, it will take you to the layer. You can also right-click on the property and it will show you an option to "Reveal in Timeline."

    Hi Micah,

I'd love to get a screen recording of the issues you are seeing. Can you tell me what version of AE the graphics were made in and what version of PR you are running?
I know we had a similar issue occurring a few releases back and thought this had been resolved.

I'll email you directly in just a moment so we can get to the bottom of this.

    Hi Guilherme,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Are you unable to open the project even after a reboot of the OS? That is so frustrating. Are you able to open one of the Auto-Saved files prior to adding the time-remapping to at least recover your work?

I'm going to reach out directly to you via email to get a copy of your project and investigate this further on my end.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the feedback Bryan! Thats a really good suggestion. We've recently added the ability to nudge EGP layers with keyboard shortcuts. Are there any other KBSs that you would like to see?

Hi Matt! Have you considered using the Motion Graphics Template workflow? You can use the Essential Graphics Panel natively in PR to set all of your default parameters, select the track item in your timeline and then export it as a Motion Graphics Template (in the right-click menu and the Graphics top Bar Menu). These can be saved to your local folder, a unique path, or a CC Library.

Then each time you open a new project you simply drag and drop the template into your project and make whatever modifications you need to make from there. Each instance of the template that you drop in the timeline is its own unique item so making changes to one does not affect other instances of it in the timeline. :)

You can also make more complex Mogrts in AE to use in PR.

Hope you check it out and it saves you a bit of time!

    Cheers,
    Dacia

    Hello All!

I'm very excited to let y'all know that the patch is ready for you! If you don't see the update for 13.0.1 in your CC App, use the hamburger menu and select "Check for App Updates" to trigger the availability of the new version.

I do want to note that this will resolve issue for Mogrts made in older versions of AE, except for Mogrts that require Dynamic Link. After Effects did not release an emergency patch in tandem so those will be resolved in the next patch.

Thank you for all of your patience!

    Cheers,

    Dacia

    Hi Seppe,

Apologies for the added hurdles to your workflows. Can you tell me more about the words not being updated. That part of the issue is new to me. If you have Mogrts you can share that would be really helpful. My email is saenz@adobe.com

In regards to the issues you are seeing with the incorrect font loading, we are working on a fix that will be released ASAP.

In the meantime, the workaround is to re-export the Mogrts from After Effects 2019 (v 16.0).

It sounds like you have the original .aeps so if you update the projects to 16.0 and re-export you'll be set. But in the event that you only have the Mogrts themselves, you can open the Mogrts natively in AE with the following steps.

    1. Launch the latest version of AE (16.0)

    2. Go to Menu Bar and select File > Open

    3. Choose your Mogrt

    4. You will be prompted to select a folder to unpack the Mogrt to, please choose your location on disk

    5. This will open the .AEP up

    6. Open the Essential Graphics Panel and re-export the Mogrt. (save to Local Templates Folder)

    7. Launch PR and add the newly exported Mogrt to a sequence

If you're working with Mogrts via CC Libraries, you'll need to save them locally to be able to access them via AE and can do so with these pre-steps:
The first thing you want to do is get a copy of your Mogrt saved Locally.

    1. Open the EGP and make sure the “My Templates” tab is selected

    2. Check the “Libraries” filter on to only see the Mogrts in your CC Libraries

    3. Right Click on the Mogrt you need to convert

    4. Select “Copy to Local”
    5. 5. Navigate to the Motion Graphics Template folder where your Mogrts are saved Locally by default (here are the pathways)

    (mac) username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Motion Graphics Template/
    (win) ://Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Common/Motion Graphics Template/
    6. I usually sort by most recently added so that the newly copied Mogrt is at the very top

    7. Duplicate it and move it to your desktop or somewhere that is convenient, then follow the steps above.

Apologies for the inconvenience and thank you so much for the help identifying the problem.

    Cheers,
    Dacia
