    Hi Mark,

Is it possible that there are any expressions that are broken / disabled within the project that were controlling colors?

You can open the Mogrt to see the .aep saved within it to see what state its in by
    1. Launching AE
    2. Use File > Open
    3. Select the Mogrt file
    4. Follow the dialog that pops up and asks you what folder you want top extract the project to
    5. and boom you've got the .aep

I'm emailing you know as well to request a copy of the Mogrt.

    Thanks,
    Dacia

    Hola Neil!

Are you referring to more user controls for AE Mogrts in the EGP or for native PR Graphic Text layers?

Are there a different set of controls beyond what we currently have available for PR text layers that in another app that you can share as an example?

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Michael,

Can you share the Mogrt that you are having issues with? Do you know if it is an After Effects Mogrt with Responsive-Design Time functionality?

If so, we’ve added a new function called “Reset Duration” in the Graphics top bar menu in Premiere Pro 14.0.1. This will use the length of the track item in the timeline as the single source of truth for how long the Mogrt should be retimed to. So if anything ends too early all you have to do is select the Mogrt in the timeline, use the Reset Duration command in the top bar Graphics menu, and voila!

This will also work with multiple selections at a time.
No more manual re-trimming or redundant work.

The primary source of the issue stems from relinking to the Mogrt’s aegraphic file in the Motion Graphics Template Media folder. Having multiple projects pointing to the same root aegraphic or moving the project around and relinking to a different version of the same Mogrt can also get users into this state.

However, if you are using a Motion Graphics template that was created within Premiere Pro itself, that is a new issue to me and I'd love to connect with you and learn more about your project and system, etc.

    Thanks,
    Dacia

    Hi Mark,

That is so odd! Thanks for sharing you project files. Lemme see if I can reproduce the issue in-house and see if I can figure out what's going on.

    Hi Richard,

I just ping'd you on the community forum but just in case, messaging you here as well. I was going to recommend pinning but from the other post it sounds like that is not giving you the expected results that you want.

Unfortunately, even when you don't actively use the pinning UI, Premiere defaults and pins the layers to the top left hand. I'm curious what happens if you choose to pin the layers to the left and right sides or the left+top+right?

I'm currently doing an audit of pinning since there are some behaviors that do not seem to make sense. I'd love to get your Mogrts so I can take em for a whirl and also set-up a time to talk when you're available to understand what you'd like to see the behavior be when there is no pinning at all.

But in the meantime, are you using Text on a Point or Text in a Box? We have a known bug where the the anchor point is getting shifted incorrectly when switching sequence sizes for Text in a Box.
The workaround is to use Text on a Point.

Having your Mogrts in hand though will definitely help me understand the issue better though.
    Emailing you now.

    Thanks,
    Dacia

    Hi Steve,

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'd love to get to the bottom of both of these issues. The ghost text is really freaking me out to be honest. lol.

Would you mind sharing a screen recording of the ghost text and your workaround? Is it happening with random Mogrts or specific ones? Definitely shoot me over any files that seem to give you a headache consistently.

    Thanks so much,

    Hi Mike,

I'm sorry you're experience has been so frustrating.
I'm curious if you are using the Responsive Design-Position tool to pin the text layers to the sides of your video frame. In theory, this should reflow your text and keep it scaled when changing between aspect ratios.

Would you mind sharing screen captures if you are using pinning and it's giving you unexpected results?

If not, then here is a resource that explains the tool a little bit more...scroll down to Responsive Design -Position: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/essential-graphics-panel.html

Additionally, pinning can be set-up within the title, then this can be exported as a Motion Graphics template. Once you have a Mogrt, it can be applied to any sequence, and keep the position relative to the video frame according to how it was set-up. This workflow would allow you to use the Mogrt and re-apply it to whatever sequence you needed with a drag-and-drop from the Essential Graphics Panel so you wouldn't have to dig around all of your nested sequences.

We are always looking to improve and I definitely agree that our anchor point tool is a great candidate for some attention.
What kinds of improvements would you like to see happen?
What things about it are currently driving you bonkers?
(aside from the fact that it moves around independently of the shape if its been scaled.. we're working on that bug 😿).

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback,
    Dacia

    Hi Aylin,

That is super frustrating. Can you share what version of Premiere Pro you're on and what platform you're on? Were you exporting via Premiere natively or via AME?

I'd love to help get you back on track.

    Cheers,

    Hi Helene,

You can check to see if your Mogrt from Premiere Pro is compatible with Rush in the Export Motion Graphics Template Dialog. There is an option that says "Warn me if this Motion Graphic template is not compatible with Rush." If you click that it will give you a heads up and I believe will let you know what is not compatible in Rush to help you make necessary tweaks.

    Hope that helps!

Alright! We finally got an in-house repro!! Whew! I've been chasing this ghost in the machine for quite awhile! It looks like the "Mogrt is Corrupt" issue occurs when the Motion Graphics Templates Media scratch disk is set to a folder that is nested so many levels deep or in folders with really long names that goes beyond the 260 character limit that file paths on Windows machines are limited to by default. The .aegraphic files within a Mogrt gets unpacked in the Motion Graphics Templates Media folder inside of folders with a Unique ID that also has a really long string of characters. It throws Windows over the edge to where it doesn't recognize the file path as valid.

We are looking into a workaround on our end but in the meantime, I found this article that shows where you can go in Win 10 to change this limitation. https://mspoweruser.com/ntfs-260-character-windows-10/

You can also open Project Settings and change the Motion Graphics Template Media Scratch Disk to a new location with fewer nested folders or closer to the root.

I have not been able to reproduce this issue on a Mac though. It looks to be specific to Windows. But if you are experiencing this issue on Mac please reach out 🙂
    Hope this is helpful!

    Hi Rohan,

that is so frustrating. I'm on the QE team for Motion Graphics Templates and am trying to get to the bottom of this. Would you mind sending me a couple of the corrupted Mogrts via a WeTransfer link?

Can you also tell me what version of PR you are working with and your system specs?

    Thanks you!

    Hi Patrick,

I just gave this a shot in 13.1.4 and all seems to be working as expected, but maybe we're doing things differently. Are you using shapes as masks in the EGP? Its a new feature we added in 13.0. If you use the shape tools to make a shape and select the shape layer in the EGP, you'll see a checkbox that says "Mask with Shape" under the appearance options (fill, stroke, & shadow). Once you click that on, you'll see another checkbox option called "Invert." You can also use these options for Text layers themselves.
We also added the ability to Group layers together so you can target masks to only apply to specific layers within the group itself.

    Cheers,
    Dacia

    Hi William,

As of Premiere Pro version 13.1, you can create and save grids and guides natively within the app. You can also import guides saved from AE. :)

    Hi John,

The new folder was created to fix a crash that would happen when Mogrts made in newer versions of AE would load in PR. But, we didn't want to destroy any mogrts you might have in your collection, so we don't delete the original folder, or make Mogrts inaccessible by versions of PR before 12.1... 12.0 still needs to "talk" to /Essential Graphics folder.

The new "Motion Graphics Templates" re-creates all of the Mogrts we ship with and if you move your custom Mogrts into the new folder, they will be available to you again in versions of PR 12.1 and after.

We also added the ability for users to add custom paths to folders of Mogrts in 13.0 which you can point to folders saved locally or on a server. Click on the hamburger menu in the Essential Graphics Panel and select "Manage Additional Folders" to get going. :)

If you do not have 11.1 or 12.0 version of PR installed and if the 13.1.4 installer is still creating the Essential Graphics folder from scratch, that sounds like a bug.

    Cheers,
    Dacia
