The version of Cinema4D that comes with AE is not trial/purchase only: it gives you access to the C4D Lite feature set as part of your CC subscription. You can also choose a time-limited trial of the full version when you register, and it will revert to Lite after that. Some newer functionality is enabled in Lite, however, so it's worth a look if you want to use features that aren't available in your perpetually-licensed version.

Autosave should be triggered automatically, as long as you're making changes to the project. There's one exception: features that open up a separate window, including plugins like Element 3D, pause the clock as AE can't save while a window is open. If that's not what you're seeing, there might be a bug here.

Take a look at the Create Nulls From Paths panel. It's under Window -> Create Nulls From Paths.jsx. It enables you to attach the vertices of your paths to nulls, which you can link together with parenting. Tip: hold down shift when you parent to have the child layer jump to the parent's position!

Good news, this is possible! The feature you’re looking for is Responsive Design – Time. You can create protected regions where you don’t want your keyframing to change, and the rest of your precomp or Motion Graphics template becomes stretchable.

Good news! You can enable this behavior. Go to Preferences > General > Center Anchor Point in New Shape Layers.

    You can do this today!

Go to File > Export > Maxon Cinema 4D Exporter... to send your project over. Animated 3D text and shapes are supported, along with cameras, lights and solids.

    Hi Jan,

Good news: if you right-click on a set of selected shapes, the latest version of After Effects will show a menu that will enable you to group or ungroup them automatically. You can also press CMD+G. (The shortcut works in older versions, too.)

Updating expressions to match is a good feature request.

The new expressions are only available in the Javascript expression engine. My hunch is that your older projects have the legacy ExtendScript engine selected instead. You can switch to the newer engine in the Expressions tab in your project settings. If you find you have older expressions that aren't compatible with the new engine, you can run the Upgrade Legacy Expressions script under File > Scripts to make them work.

sampleImage() can be slow, especially if you're running it multiple times and on larger areas of the comp, but it shouldn't be THAT slow. Can you share your expression?

Go to Preferences > General, and enable the "Center Anchor Point in New Shape Layers" option. It's not the same as the keyboard shortcut, but it should make working with shapes a little easier.

Hey there! I had a chat with the Animate team, and they had a couple suggestions to try:

    1. Update to the latest version of Animate, which flattens advanced layer effects, then try importing.

    2. If you're using the legacy route, i.e. publishing swf in Animate and importing it manually in AE, turn on the Optimize for After Effects check box in Publish Settings dialog before publishing.

Can you give us a little more detail about how you'd like this to work? Some of what you're trying to do may already be possible -- take a look at the Create Nulls From Paths panel.

Not quite what you're asking for, but you can double-click on the properties in the Essential Graphics panel or right click to reveal them in the project. It's a handy way to navigate your comps!

Check out the Motion Tile effect -- it should do what you need it to.

We agree, those are great tools. Can you tell me more about what you'd like to see natively within AE?

Have you tried creating a Motion Graphics template? That workflow packs everything up into a single easy-to-share file. (Well, almost everything: for licensing reasons, third-party plugins and non-Adobe Fonts typefaces cannot be collected.)

    Hi Tristan,

Need to clarify if this is a feature request to address a known limitation or a bug we're not aware of. Right now, we don't collect data files if you only link them via expressions... but AE should collect them if you add them to your comp as a layer. Which case are you seeing?

We're looking into it, seems like it may be a bug with our Learn panel. Don't worry -- we definitely don't need your contacts for anything in AE. We will not email your comps to all your friends. :)

Definitely doesn't look normal to us, either! Have you installed any other scripts recently?

As long as you generate the different versions from the same original comp in AE, Premiere will keep your customizations when you alt/option-drag a new template onto the one in the timeline.

Hi Joe! There's certainly room for improvement with the way properties are named when you add them to the EGP. Seems like we'd need to do something more explicit than using just the effect name to name a property, though. How much detail do you think is necessary to add? Would "Amplitude Slider" (effect + property name) be enough? What about including comp or layer names?
