Which version of Audition is this? The most recent release no longer decouples the audio streams from the video, linking directly to the video file itself. Although, I haven't really heard of this before with older versions, so maybe something else is happening. If you can send a copy of a .sesx file that shows this behavior to audbugs @ adobe . com we can take a look.

Any VST effect parameter can be automated with envelopes in Audition's multitrack editor. At the bottom of each audio track is a drop-down which exposes the track parameter envelopes, and any VST or native effect parameter can be shown and edited.

The automation data is stored in the Audition session file itself as parameter change data, and this is sent to the VST effect just the same as if a user were turning the knobs themselves. It's not stored with the VST at all.

Are you using a DeInterlace plugin for the video in Premiere Pro? As far as I recall, any video effects should be in place when streaming video via Dynamic Link, but knowing more about the sequence and video would be helpful in reproducing the issue.

What menu command are you using to generate the mixdown? File > Export > Multitrack Mixdown should always default to the last-used settings.

Could you send a copy of the crash report to audbugs@adobe.com so we can see why you're seeing the instability? That may also explain why recovery and continuing a recording introduces those problems. Generally, that sort of symptom only occurs when a hard drive is failing.

You can find the crash reports most easily by clicking Help > Reveal Log Files...

You should still be able to send a sequence from Premiere to Audition via this method. Can you locate the XML file the process generates in the directory you selected and send it to audbugs@adobe.com.

In the meantime, the latest release of Audition will let you open a PRPROJ file and import a sequence directly. You may want to try that for a better, faster experience.

    Thanks!

I'm not sure I completely understand your question. Would using parameter automation to capture the state of the track parameters solve the problem?

In the most recent release, you can view video files while editing the audio stream in the Waveform view, without needing to place it into a multitrack session first. However, as you noted, saving does not currently write the new audio stream back to the original video file, relying upon Adobe Media Encoder to create a new file. While AME can support smart rendering for many formats which support it, not re-encoding a video stream, this isn't yet available for all formats and does require additional steps.

There is an open feature request in the backlog to support this request already. I will add your notes to the item.

grr. I'll submit a feature request to our backlog.

    Hi Paul,

I assume you're working in the Waveform editor, open an effect and adjust some parameters, then click Apply. The effect is applied to the waveform and the effect UI window closes.

You're requesting that the effect UI window remain open so you can make additional modifications and apply those? I think I understand. The example you've provided puts it in good context: You often want to apply the same effect and settings (perhaps) to multiple selections within a single file. Keeping the effect window open (Apply and Keep Open, rather than the default "Apply and Close") would make this much easier.

Would a modifier key being pressed when clicking Apply suffice? For example, if you just clicked Apply the current behavior would occur, but if you held Command/CTRL and clicked Apply, the effect could remain open.

    I'll submit a feature req

    Hi Pablo,

Can you elaborate further? What do you see right now, and what do you expect to see? There is a maximum number of tracks that can be displayed at a time, even at their smallest track height, so depending on track count and monitor resolution, you may still need to scroll down to see all tracks.

And if it IS a true stereo file, you can still split when dragging to Mono audio tracks by holding CTRL+ALT. This only forces separation when the destination tracks are mono, though.

    Hi Frank,

When dragging in a 2-channel (non-stereo, which you're describing) file, you can hold down the ALT(Windows) or OPTION(Mac) key to separate the channels to separate clips on separate tracks. You can also twirl open multichannel audio files and select one or more arbitrary channels to drag in, and the same keys will separate those as well.

We've been unable to see this on multiple test machines. Please send that screenshot and we'll see what might be different between our two Favorites. Thanks.

    Hi Gregory,

I'm not able to reproduce the issue you've described. Can you send me an e-mail to audbugs@adobe.com and we can follow-up directly? I think I may need to see a screenshot of your Favorite panel to properly debug and troubleshoot.

    Thanks

    Hi Katie,

I'm not aware of any known issues or other reports of crashing when adding markers. There are some log files that are created that may help troubleshoot. Can you send an e-mail to audbugs@adobe.com and I'll be happy to follow-up and see if we can get this resolved.

You can enable almost any clip or track parameter, including any effect or plug-in parameter, for keyframe envelope editing or control surface automation. That includes track panning as well in stereo or 5.1 space.

While the screenshots are a little dated, check out the instructions at https://helpx.adobe.com/audition/using/automating-mixes-envelopes1.html for more details.
