I am currently on 15.4.0, I updated yesterday, and it was yesterday's update that transitioned from "annoying, but tolerable" to "glitchy and unusable."

I have tried disabling auto-scrolling, but it doesn't appear to change anything.

    Yes!
Though I feel that there would need to be something built in to such a feature that could detect words that are not a part of the script, for people who use clips from other videos on occasion, lest an unscripted clip in the middle of a segment throw off the whole process.
