    you can hold down SHIFT and continue to hold while opening general settings and set it to purge ram every nth frame.

    Ok thanks! Very strange location, I'd expect it in the playback area as a checkbox, or in Preferences > Preview. It would be nice if it respected the skips frames selection, so that I could actually use this feature.
