This is by design. We always keep captions within safe margins (10%). Would an option to defeat this restriction be useful or is it better to remove this safeguard all together. Opinions welcome.

Is removing Safe Margins still a possibility? It was first mentioned way back in April. We could really use this.

My Crossman...it's been eight months since you asked us our opinion on removing this safeguard. Will this be happening? Would really be helpful to me and apparently everyone else here. Thanks!

Mr Crossman. Back in April you asked our opinion about would "defeating this restriction be useful or is it better to remove this safeguard all together?" How is this going? Seems clear to me that everyone wants this safeguard removed. I could really use this feature today.
Also, the ability to upload our own approved scripts prior to running the Transcribe process. The combination of our scripts and the Transcribe process would be a total game-changer for Open Captions (or CC) workflow. This would literally save me hours of work per video.

Hey Mr. Crossman. Any news you can share on giving the user full control of the placement of the captions? Thanks!!!

Can you give us an update as to when you think you might defeat this restriction or remove the safeguard altogether? A LOT of people in my organization would start using Premiere Pro day one for captioning if this happens!

It's fine to "keep the captions within a safe margin". This can simply be the default that will be used by a lot of people I'm guessing. The current version allows us to "Set Vertical Position" to a positive number....the Captions just don't respond. Please fix this.

Mr Crossman asked us and we have responded. I just hope it's near the top of their list of changes to make.

How is the progress to remove the safeguard altogether coming along? Really could use this feature right now.

Is Adobe considering removing the CC location safeguard to give us full control?

Yes...please give us full control of the Captions location. Our client has strict guidelines on location, character length, and two lines of captions when possible. We need to be able to set some defaults for these things when we select the "Create Captions" button. Thanks!

This is good feedback. Would you be interested in seeing other transitions too, like slide on from the side or bottom?

I agree...this would be a great addition. Removing safe margins as Mathew mentions.

What version of PPro are you running?
We’ve tried, but haven’t been able to reproduce this behavior.
It seems like what happens during a “sideways sync” (changes made in one open Productions project, being reflected into other open Productions projects); there is a slight delay while the update takes place.
Also, could be related to the new label colors feature..but switching from icon to list view shouldn’t impact that.
If you toggle the “Show Source Clip Name and Label” item in PPro’s timeline wrench menu, does it restore their label colors?

Hi Ella,
You say PPro “has begun” crashing, and mention “Suddenly”…
What changes to you system configuration occurred, around the time that these problems began?

Timecode and cropping in PPro both work well for most users.
Specifically, what steps can we follow to reliably reproduce the problems you’re seeing?

Mac or Windows? What version of PPro are you running?
You say ‘files could be moved’; on my mac, if I select “File —> Save As…”, I get a dialog in which all files are greyed out; folders, if dragged onto other folders, are opened.

It sounds like PPro is quitting when you “change the colors of a first pro video”…
How are you changing that color? Lumetri?

All your ideas sound like they’re related to GPU driver problems. We’ve asked someone to reach out and get more specifics.

It’s unlikely Bridge will integrate the extensive support for video formats, already available in PPro.
What video workflows would you like to bring through Bridge, that you could not also bring through PPro?

Sounds scary; we’re not yet able to reproduce that behavior, here.
Confirming: In Preferences —> General —> Most Recent, is yours set to show the Home screen (the default behavior), or have you changed the pref to “open most recent”?

It’s definitely possible to use PPro without internet access, once it’s initially licensed.
In what situations have you not been able to use PPro without an internet connection?

We’ve followed the guidance you’ve posted, and can create no problematic XML files. From QE:
We’ve tried variations of linked or not and different types of cuts and slip edits, and they always came back in perfectly via XML whether I imported or did Open Project like the user suggested.
Can you provide a project, and step-by-step instructions on how to reliably reproduce the problem you’re seeing?
