The newest Premiere Pro update, released today, adds quite a bit of features to the captions settings.
And yet..... This frustrating restriction is still sitting on "Needs more info", instead of being actually considered for the caption updates.

Can we AT LEAST get another response from Adobe about this suggestion? It's ridiculous that there has been no acknowledging the amount of feedback that has been given. FIFTY FIVE COMMENTS, all of which are in support of removing the restriction.
Not to mention, if 100% of the comments are in support of removing it, there's no doubt many many more users not involved in this conversation that are wanting the restriction removed too.
Every time I get an email about comments made on this thread, and others, that are just people literally begging Adobe to even acknowledge their feedback about something, it makes me lose even more faith in the company (not that I have much at this point anyway, but.)

This sort of thing should definitely be optional, give the freedom to position it with no limits as the default, but have the option to set the restriction as a guideline if the user wishes (And give options for what percentage to make the safe margins too, possibly?)

This is not a bug, it’s as designed. We specifically limit the visibility to one track at a time to avoid accidentally burning in multiple tracks. Also, when exporting to a format that only supports one captions stream like SRT or STL, we need to know which is the active track in order to export the correct track.

But I understand why you might need two tracks visible at the same time.

    Multiple speakers:
If we could automatically identify speakers and designate a style associated with them, would that help? For example speaker 1 is blue and on the left, speaker 2 is yellow and on the right?

    Multiple languages:
Do you ever need to burn in both at the same time or is it just a matter of being able to see both to aid in translation and alignment?

Thanks for the feedback, we really are listening :)

There was just an update with quite a few new caption features.... but not this one? :/

I think the consensus here between your users is that if someone is stupid enough to accidentally burn in two at the same time without meaning to, that's on them, and there's no reason to be restricting something like this as a "failsafe" when anyone who knows what they're doing doesn't need it. I second the suggestion I saw below, that if there's 2 active then give a warning to the user when they're exporting, that should be more than enough to alert someone to any possible mistake.
Completely removing or excluding a feature because some people don't know how to use it correctly is ridiculous.
(And the fact that people barely ever get a response from Adobe on these forums is equally ridiculous)

This is really something you would expect to be a feature from the very start, it's not a complicated action in the slightest and would get a lot of use, and apparently other video editing programs already have it....
    So?? Where is it Adobe?

As Jim Simon noted, there is already a request for this so certainly upvote that request.

This is an area we are looking into for future versions to make auto-save more reliable and out of the way.

I wanted to report that I had a file corrupt on me, the same one where this bug was happening. I actually highly doubt that it was related to this bug specifically (I was also having trouble with the timeline freezing and not letting me click on anything), but I still wanted to comment here and warn people in case they want to move their project to a new file when this happens, just in case.

I just want to point out that technically finding a workaround for a bug isn't a "fix", only Adobe can actually fix the bug. Don't say that things "fix" it or they'll think they can just ignore the bug and never patch it out since there's a "solution" to it anyway.

Similar to the previous comment, this also started happening to me after the update mentioned. However I am not using multicam so the issue must not stem from that. But my issue did go away if I deleted all of the sequences where the waveform was completely blank despite audio being present. Shown in my screenshot, all of these sequences have audio in them, it's fairly often that they will have the 'flat' waveform despite this, but the two in the center that are just a blank green rectangle are the ones that seem to be causing the issue since it stops once those are deleted.
The first and second sequences look nearly identical in the way of having the same file types in each, one video layer with a .mov and one audio layer that is a .wav. The files source from the same camera and microphone, and the audio has been edited in audition. So I don't think the files within the sequence are the cause of the issue.
These sequences maintain the blank waveform when being added to the parent sequence again, and the duplicates of them also have the same issue.
