As vague and unhelpful as this suggestion may be, Premiere has easily become my least favorite Adobe product to use. I am experiencing issues that have been reported since as far back as 2019 (see "Can't undo inside nested comps if parent comp is open")

When something as essential as the history panel does not function as expected it really makes me question my choice of video editing software.

Wow, I posted about this issue way back without realizing the "cause" of the problem. Was told it was not reproducible and to reset my preferences. Still experiencing this issue in the current update, extremely frustrating.

@Dalibor Tesanovic I don't know why this works and frankly I don't think I want to, but it did the trick. Thanks a ton.

For the record I was experiencing this issue in version 14.9.10 build 52, though I'd been reusing the same timeline for several episodes of a recurring show.

Also in my case it seemed like the audio popping was introduced at the start/end of the transitions, regardless of its length, and they only appeared in renders and not timeline playback.

I've attached a screenshot, on the left is the waveform with no transition, the right has a 4 frame constant power. You can see the two clicks introduced in the spectrogram. They appeared consistently in the same spot each render.
