@Alex
I don't think this discussion would be confusing them, if anything it will be adding clarity. If Adobe ever action it it they'll be reading the discussion and determining what they feel is the best implementation. Otherwise there are hundreds of threads open with minor variations to a suggestion with no ground swell of support for any of them.Really, this request is about having more powerful track pasting behaviour without the time and focus loss of always having to retarget. It sounds like we're all on the same page about not losing existing functionality -- we just want more :]

Copy-Paste onto lowest empty track ? ****. Yes.
Premiere does something similar when you perform an overlay edit but sadly there are no copy-paste options, or keyboard shortcuts..

Thanks for the suggestion(s).

@Taran
Yep, I have a set up similar to that but as near as I can tell there's no way to navigate with the kb below the search box and into the actual effects themselves. So although it saves me a mouse trip to search, if I actually want to apply any effect to a clip I need to drag and drop.
I've been using your workaround with AHK [sidebar: Thank you! :)] but if premiere's effects window behaved like any normal application window then creating a reliable, repeatable macro would be trivial instead of the Sisyphean punishment that it is today.
I just don't see why so many of premiere's windows are locked down in the first place (see also: Essential Graphics panel) . No arrow key navigation, tabbing or basic copy/paste commands... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Any news on effects shortcuts ? (or even just allowing keyboard navigation in the effects panel). It's two and a half years and 558 votes later...

Happy to report the engineering team is currently working on this feature and I expect it to be available in public beta builds in the next few weeks. I’ll update when it’s available to test, and the more early feedback we can get, the sooner it’s likely to make it into the main release. Thanks!

Still very much in need. For video editing any kind of long format content, too -- being able to auto detect silence is great; not being able to bring those blade marks without ripple deleting into premiere is a disaster.

This is a great request that is certainly something we want to implement. Rest assured our engineers DO understand the importance of this feature and how to get the job done. We also know that the performance and stability of the app should be our #1 priority and that is where our focus is right now.

Can confirm Premiere regularly has issues with the clipboard, often retaining old data instead of replacing it with new data. When this happens you need to tab out, copy something else (to clear the clipboard) and come back in and then it works :(
