    All,

first of all I wanted to thank everyone for making this a productive conversation over the last couple of days.

As several people responded to my comment about keeping the tone civilised, I need to dwell on that for a minute. Please hear me out, this is important to everyone on my crew and I hope it will be to you.

Saying that we shouldn't be surprised when things get heated is very problematic in my opinion. How do you expect a junior person on my team to respond to a technical question when it is combined with something that can easily be described as hate speech? How do you think we can actually come together on actual issues when there's already the assumption that we're a big faceless corporation, not even listening to our customers?

People on my team have received threats. I've been there over the years,…

Adobe, lot of similar videos are popping out each day. In a short time, even tiktokers will switch to resolve, if you do not fix your stuff...and i don't mean only the export, i mean the entire software.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieICR5RH5WY

And fix the **** coresync.exe, it's causing immotivated slowdown to PC since years to a lot of people. I have nothing to sync, no libraries, no fonts, no images/videos, nothing! But when i open photoshop (without loading any image), coresync start automatically, slowing down the entire pc, that struggle even dragging a window. I have to force quit the coresync.exe and rename it, to prevent it from being started again.

@Patrick: multirender in AE is a bit faster, yes, but i'm not talking about render speed, but the slowness using Pr and AE...moving object in viewer, scrolling timelines and comps, changing parameters and basically the whole workflow is slow.

The number of people who are complaining here is low due 3 factors:

1- Most of them don't know that this page exist

2- They have no time/don't want comment here

3- A lot of request are "under revision" since years (4..5..and more), so they don't want to spend time in things that probably will be never fixed

@Patrick, speaking in more general terms, the real big issue with Premiere are the slowness and instability. Please, don't skip reading this:

The new export UI is the drop that broke the pot. All feature added to premiere in these years are great, of course, but there is a big problem that ruin everything: the slowness of Premiere.
For example, we can use media encoder, but with medium/big project it take a lot to load the whole project. A lot of time there are issues with 3rd party plugins, AEcomps and other.

Premiere is really slow also importing clips, moving them in timeline, generating waveform, changing parameters in effect control is slow..everything is slow, i swear.

I always defended Premiere, but the last 2/3 years, the things get worste a lot, with Premiere.
For the first time, i downloaded Resolve, 'cause i'm really think to switch. I used Resolve and i cannot believe how fast it is..it seems i'm using a new super workstation, but it's the same PC.

My (and not only mine) opinion, is that you should stop adding new features and focus on performance. I don't care if we will not receive big update every year, really don't care...but please, performance and stability are necessary. A lot of people thinking about to switch to other softwares

Take a bit of time to watch these, they explain well which are the issues:

I leave here a video that explain well how much adobe users are frustrated while using premiere/after effects, and it get worst every new release. I heard lot, lot of people thinking to switch to resolve (myself included).
Please adobe, most of your features are great, but with instability, bugs, slowness, clunky UI and so on, we can't use these great features. We have deadline, we can't spend days to fix issues that shouldn't exist or find bizarre workaround to fix them.
If your politics is to add new features each release and do not care about the quality of your product, you'll lose a lot of users in the next years. People speak on forums and groups and i never seen someone suggest "premiere" as a NLE, they always suggest Resolve and speak evil about Premiere.
You should listen at what most people NEED to work fast and good, not only add new features, we don't really care about them. The current features are enough.
Listen carefully this video, this is the thought of 99% adobe users.
    Thanks.

Totally agree, especially the fact that now it's not possible to view existing files.

I absolutely agree with Mary. I have been waiting this feature for years, but we all know the facts.
So, i first developed smart collect for my own use. Then i realized that it could be useful for other people, so i polished it to be more easy and uploaded on aescripts.

I know that not all people can install what they want. The extensions however, are not like plugin or something that copy files all over the OS, it's just a folder that will be recognized by premiere as an extension.

To check compatibility, eventual bug and other, you can try for free the full version for 10 days (here is direct link to trial, no registration required)

Due the fact project management is still broken, i'm here to remember that i created a dedicated extension (" Smart Collect for premiere pro" on aescripts.com )

It collect the footage used in the selected sequence (or multiple sequences) copying them on disk with the same folder structure you created in premiere pro. It also create a copy of the project and relink automatically the footage to the just copied files. There is also an option that delete from project window all the unused footage (unused in the selected sequences), to clean the project.

Smart Collect does not perform any trim or conversion, because i want an extension that works, without having issues with render/codec...it could be crash, stop, generate some errors that not depends from the extension.

I wanted a working extension, that produce a good collect, at the expense of a few more gigabytes.

Here there is a trial version, fully working for 10 days: https://aescripts.com/smart-collect-for-premiere-pro/

Let me know what you think :)
    Thanks

@Bart. Didn't read anything about this, in the last updates. But i noticed a thing, that i'm sure in older version didn't work..now, seems that level 1 nested sequences will be copied, but not the level 2 and further (with level 2 i mean a nested into another nested, and level 1 is a simple clip nested).

My extension will automatically copy all levels of nesting.
You can try a fully working version (10 days trial) here: https://aescripts.com/smart-collect-for-premiere-pro/

I think is quite difficult to have a time estimation. It depend on the size of single files. For example, 1000 files of 1MB of size are slower to copy than 1 single file of 1000MB. The speed is also influenced by disk speed, ram and CPU usage while copying and other factors.

We have developed an extension for our personal use, then relased on aescript. The extension has a numeric counter instead a moving bar.

If you are interested, you can find the extension here: https://aescripts.com/smart-collect-for-premiere-pro/

I was looking for a better project manager for years...due nothing is changed, i programmed my own extension, Smart Collect. It doesn't transcode but only copy entire clip (i needed a working collect system, so i avoided all things that can cause issues ). It also collect the clip in all nested sequences used in the main sequence you want to collect. Furthermore, it copy the assets in a folder structure that mirror the one you created in Premiere Pro.

You can check it out here https://aescripts.com/smart-collect-for-premiere-pro/
