That worked! I had read (or seen in a YouTube video) that the protected regions had to be in a precomp, which is why I put them one level down.

    Thank you so much!

I think the attach file process failed. It ran and ran and ran, until I finally cancelled it. Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fmc4ag6pjhxg9zm/ForAdobeSupport.zip?dl=0

Thank you both for responding, Dacia and James. I am attaching a zip file with the mogrt in question and a video of the mogrt being pulled into the timeiine, and trying to stretch it. The small white triangles are there on the mogrt. However, if you'll look at the mogrt in AE, you'll see the responsive design time areas on the precomp "First comp" and the main comp "Main". The mogrt is created from the "Main" comp.

If I extend (or rerduce) the "Main" comp in AE, the responsive design time areas correctly move but do not change in length.

I can certainly believe the fault is mine, but after searching for several days for an answer, I think I've got it set up correcty. One possible complicating factor - I am using a plugin "Pins and Boxes", and I haven't removed the "Pins and Boxes" expressions from the comp.

Just in case the file attachment doesn't work, here's a link to the zip file.

Thank you, Ali. However, changing the length with the selection tool merely shortens the mogrt, dropping the ending animation completely, and the selection tool won't let the mogrt be lengthened.
