Premiere Rush error message: "This file requires the HEVC codec which is included with a Creative Cloud membership."
Customers are having this issue when trying to import video footage into Premiere Rush:
"This file requires the HEVC codec which is included with a Creative Cloud membership. To upgrade to a paid plan, go to..."
But this is happening to users who already have a plan that includes the paid version of Rush.
This happens with recent versions of Rush, including release 2.0.
(Downgrading back to version 1.5.54 sometimes avoids the problem and allows the import.)

Same issue, end of June 2022. It's trying to get me to spend $600 a year to get access to this one codec so rush isn't useless to me. Downloading DaVinci Resolve to try to get a little work done that should be able to be done in my paid for version of Rush. The Absolutely bonkers TCO and the quality of products is just horrible

Same here, usually using Resolve, thought I'd try rush to potentially recommend it to someone - Open, drop a 4K60 HEVC file, get the same message. I'm on the photography plan. This is pathetic. Obviously that software is to be considered worthless.

Is this for real? I just purchased a GoPro10, shot hours of footage, spent countless hours/days editing it, and now I can't export my projects? Are you serious? What in gods name are you people doing? How can you not be completely ashamed to even have this product in your lineup if it can't even edit/export the main industry standard codec?
I got here by investigating odd crashes I was having while editing my videos, and noting that they coincided with this error message(it crashes soon after it pops up). I thought my laptop was to blame...
I can't get over this not being a joke... I am back at zero.. Useless program(I mean, really... what can it even do without this working?), terrible company for promoting it. I actually have a significant amount of my life dedicated to this current project, and this is now causing serious headaches. I am at a complete standstill. I am not sure my laptop can handle pro, nor am I sure I want to upgrade given Adobe's terrible support of Rush.
I am starting to rethink my belief that Adobe sets the standards for digital imaging and editing.

PLEASE fix this. I do not want to pay for Premiere Pro just so I can successfully render my Rush projects. Downgrading to 1.5 also DOES NOT WORK.

HEVC is an industry standard used by many camera and should be supported by Premiere Rush. To add insult to injury, Premiere Rush currently imports and lets us edit HVEC video, no problem. It only complains when I try to render a NEW video using these files. Please fix this for the next release.

More than half a year since the first reports of this issue, still persistent. Why am I paying for this again?

I have paid version of Rush. Need to be able to process videos from DJI drone, encoded with HEVC. Tempted to abandon the paid subscription and switch elsewhere for both photography and video.

Let's get this fixed, Adobe. I have work waiting to be completed and can't make any progress because Rush is BROKEN. Does anyone in quality control even bother to test these in a real-world environment with actual subscribers?
Going with DaVinci Resolve is not the answer--that software is complete rubbish. Horrible, laggy performance. Adobe Rush flies in comparison.

I’ve contacted Adobe several times about this issue and they’ve never responded. I keep getting emails asking me to rate them for helping resolve my issue lol.. they haven’t even reached out yet! Awful, awful service. Could this be a class action thing? I’d like to be refunded for the portion I’ve been paying while waiting for them to fix this.

I've switched to Davinci Resolve, and I'm absolutely loving it!

Still does not work and on 1.5.54 i get issues with GoPro Footage. What a mess. 2.3 even crashes after getting the HEVC codec needed screen and after trying to close Adobe Rush i cannot even use another video converter without restarting the whole system.
Whats up with Adobe? Maybe switching to Davinci is the far better option on this. If i would not rely on Lightroom and Photoshop maybe i would even cancel the whole subscription.

Core functionality issues for many users were reported in November.
As of April 11, this is still not working.Adobe's customer (dis)service has changed my perception of the company. Disappointed.

I am having this issue too but I do not have Rush subscription, I have only Lightroom and Illustrator subscription. My problem is that I can not even find Rush in Adobe Creative Cloud subscription! So how can I buy Rush to use HEVC when there is nowhere to buy? Or does it work with mobile app subscription or what?
I dont really understand.

I've Switched to Davinci Resolve and I recommend you all do the same. Adobe has clearly abandoned this software, but Davinci Resolve is AWESOME and Much more powerful than Rush

After a long time, Adobe still haven't solved this problem. I was beginning to look for an alternative.
I get around it by converting the HEVC .mp4 files to HD or 4K H264 files using various video file converters.

there is some anecdotal evidence in the comments below that the issue is to do with the licence/deal between an existing photography subscription and rush (and the timing it was introduced into the photography package) and that unsubscribing and resubscribing might sort the issue.
if not speak to customer support, I was offered 3 months free sub as I couldn't use rush in the meantime
One way or another Adobe needs to resolve the issue.
