revert to AE CS6 and try again.
sorry, adobe, but this ain't it.
every update since has made the program worse, in aggregate. Don't get me wrong- things like rotobrosh, consuming mocha like some kind of soulless blob, it all helped... but at some point the way was lost.
rotobrush came before mask optimization, and made it largely impossible. Mocha is still a plugin- AE is the ONLY AAA effects software that doesn't natively support area tracking- and if it does... well I can't say it works.
all these addons- they come with AE, so why not actually integrate them into the program, make them ACTUAL FEATURES. you can duct tape things on a car and call it a feature, but at some point it's gonna fall off and ruin someone's day, and if it doesn't there goes your paint job.
AE6 was reactive- I DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR CLICKS TO REGISTER ON A WORKSTATION. I don't need bells and whistles. I'm an artist.
I'VE MADE FASTER VIDEO EDITS IN MICROSOFT PAINT BEFORE. I DON'T NEED A SPORTS CAR WITH A TRACTOR ENGINE IF IT HAS NO STEERING WHEEL.
I NEED FOR IT TO BE FAST ENOUGH TO ACCEPT INPUT, AND HAVE BASIC FUNCTIONALITY. YOU PROVIDE NEITHER.
