Create Video Transition Templates in After Effects to Use In Premiere Pro
A lot of us just stick to basic dissolves, but if you watch any show on TLC, you'll notice lots of custom video transitions. Lens flares, complex animations, and more. You could argue that these transitions are tacky and garrish, but sometimes, if used correctly, can really add to a production.
The current way to do transitions like these is to send the head and tail of each video clip to After Effects and do the transition there. The only problem is that this isn't flexible, and if you want to roll the edit or trim some frames, you have to go over the whole process again. If the transition is just an overlay with blending modes, then you're using up an entire layer for video transitions, which seems unnecessary.
Imagine creating a custom transition template within After Effects that you could apply to video in Premiere Pro the same way you'd apply a video transition.
You could create (or download creations) of transitions that use motion blur, flares, blending modes, and more, and skip having to jump into After Effects every time you want to apply the transition.
It may be too ambitious of a feature to request, but that's what votes are for. Also, transitions and it's respective interface in Premiere Pro is showing it's age. So maybe it's not so far-fetched.

STrange to see that, in the "old days" FCP and Motion got this going allready. You could make "mogrt's" in Motion where, in FCP, you could just drag footage files in to make those transitions.
It's very strange to me that, first of all, Apple dropped this, and second, Adobe has not picked this up earlier. This thing existed 10 years ago! -

Hi,
Motion Graphics Templates have advanced since their early release last year but it seems that they are still way too limited compared to what can be done manually in many cases in Premiere (but with a lot more work). In particular allowing "complex" transitions such as these ones, for example, seem not to be possible (I haven't seen MOGRT files similar to this anywhere).
Example of regular transitions that we would like to see in MORGT version from motionarray:

I see more and more complex video transitions these days so I think you are right that they can add to a production and that viewers don't necessarily find them garish or distracting. Besides, whether or not many editors still consider non-traditional effects & transitions to be tacky is no reason to keep it hard to do if that's what people want to see. So I find your request intriguing and I'm making a note of it. I'm not sure how feasible it would be to implement in the near future, but it's definitely something that I could see fitting under the "MoGrT" umbrella at some point. Thanks "Tim K"! :-D
