  1. Ability to flag layer as "ignored" with prefix

    Character Animator currently supports flagging a layer as independent by prefixing it with a '+' character.

    I would like to suggest a new prefix (suggest '~') that tells Character Animator to ignore layers and groups while importing / updating artwork.

    I often have layers and groups in my artwork file (psd or ai) that I want to keep for editing purposes (a color palette layer is one example), but do not want them "seen" by Character Animator.

    As it stands, Character Animator searches all layers for auto-tagging and behaviour inclusion, and I have no way to control this process.

  2. Bug Report

    Hi,

    When using BETA 3.4 (Build 91) on Windows 10 I'm getting the error Error code: (utils.js.19) when setting the reset pose. I'm able to refresh the scene and keep working and sometimes the reset pose works without the error. CH is on a local drive and the puppet I'm using I use quite often. I was getting some other error messages but figured out those were related to some virus scanning software I recently loaded on my computer.

  4. Set custom duration for manual take record

    Situation: I want to create exact poses. After that, I blend them together.

    Problem: The manual take commands are either too short (so I have to zoom in to expand them so I can add a blend) or too long and I can't see the start and end of the take.

    Solution: Let us set a custom length for manual takes. (For instance 2 seconds)

  6. Scene Camera view mode to show extents as box instead of zooming.

    I have a large scene, and I'm putting in a bunch of cut-in scene cameras. I'd like to be able to lock the scene view to the full view, and have the camera, instead of showing what it sees, I'd like to see it as an outline (or just like it shows now, but not automatically having the scene zooming in.

    in other words, I'd like to see the camera extents shown as a box, but the view to remain pegged to my zoom level of the artboard, not the current camera.

  7. Swappable limbs from behind to the front of body

    At the moment the characters arms and hands have to be either rigged to be in front or behind the body. There are times when we need to be able to move the arms and hands to go behind and then also go in from of the body

  8. Prevent Head Movements from effecting the body and arm movements

    When the head moves, the body and arms move also.
    We should be able to move the head without the arms shaking or moving also. It does not look right. The Head should move independently of the body or at least have the choice to keep the body, arms and legs still when the head moves.

  9. Limbs

    Could we have native sort of limbs (rubber hose style). It would be amazing to have a button that automatically creates limbs we can customise and then ready to rig and animate.

    To me it would be natural for such a software to have that feature. Cavalry has for example

  11. Magnets Rotation Bug

    I think I've found a bug with magnets. Any advice would be really appreciated.

    I'm doing something weird. I have a character with shoulder length hair, and I want the dangling hair to be on top of the shoulder, but I want the forearm and hands to be in front of the hair.

    The way I've done it, is to make a normal arm with shoulder, elbow, wrist tags, bones, arm IK etc below the hair.

    Then I made a copy of the forearm, and put it above the hair, and used a magnet with weld to parent the top…

  13. Light Theme Interface for Eye Health

    Can you please add a light theme interface so I am not straining my eyes to work in Character Animator? This black/dark theme is particularly a problem in an office with sunlight and is causing my eyes to become sore. Adding this option for a lighter theme or just more control will help my eyes working on Character Animator. Thank you.

  14. Replay Hold Markers

    Please make replays open-able on their own timeline, and allow a hold marker, where the animation holds until the trigger is released and then it can play the remaining outro animation after the hold marker.

    Also if the replay is 5 minutes long with a short outro animation, if I trigger it for 5 seconds, and then let go, it should either end immediately or have the option to skip right to the end animation.

  15. speech to text and text to viseme syncing?

    I'm profoundly deaf. It makes editing audio and visemes a bit of a pain.

    In my everyday life, I lip read, and when my brain adds this to the bit, I do hear through the device embedded in my head, I do ok. It works better when I know the person and recognises the mouth movements and the sounds they make. This is a major problem for the alogrythm when trying to lip sync audio. We may speak the same language, but the sound and mouth shape we make it with varies a lot. I think there is a possible…

  17. Tutorial Not working Properly

    This isn't an idea. I'm doing the tutorial (auditions), I have 0 contro over the red monster or the doctor looking guy so far. My camera is on and I am on the top right screen but nothing I do including talking syncs with the character in the tutrial

    RE UPDATE:

    RE: ‘my laptop sounded like an airplane’

    It’s not uncommon for your computer to use a lot of processor when the camera is involved. As long as your working in a temperate environment on a hard surface, should be able to handle it. But if it slows down, that could be an issue. If you’re not streaming or your process can avoid it, try to have no other apps running that require access to your camera.

    RE: ‘When the puppet hears noise without me physcially talking or moving my lips…’

    The puppet attempts lip sync when it ‘hears’ any audio, however there is a feature that will only allow it to move lips when your mouth is open or moving. Go to:

    Character Menu →Preferences→Lip Sync→Camera Based Muting and set the slider to a stronger position. Usually about mid slider will get a good result. After that,…

  19. Onion behaviors

    A double toggle or transparency of when certain behaviors are enabled. i.e; "Triggers". Show like an onion skin of both on and off effects. Similar to the snapshot feature but instead it transparent throughout the entire timeline. The "dragger" behavior would definitely benefit from this.

    Or better yet, a second "scene" window showing all the animation if all the behaviors were toggled off and another with the behaviors toggled on.

  20. Record keyframes of Triggers (From Replays Manager) manually without the need of activating Record (Ctrl + R)

    I do not know if this exists already, but I think it would be helpful to point your playhead at specific frame of your timeline then hit your Trigger key to manually add the keyframes you set for that said Trigger key in the timeline (without pressing Record). Not sure if it makes sense.
