  2. Provide more diverse and professional examples

    I am a professor of art with an MFA in animation specifically. I need to see more examples provided which reflect the competency in figure drawing we encourage students to aspire and practice. Currently, that is not reflected in the examples provided. Additionally, where diversity is portrayed, diversity includes age. By restricting your examples to those that depict generally teenagers and children, you send a message we in art programs in art schools and colleges let alone education and the motion picture industry are trying to change.     @Lisa Rose, you’ll get no argument on the diversity front and keep an eye on the blog – https://theblog.adobe.com/creative-cloud/character-animator/ – as we add new puppets. You also can find some less age specific examples in our earlier shared puppets here: https://character.adobelanding.com/puppets/

    In regard to the drawing styles, would you be kind enough to post a couple examples of the types of artwork that indicate the competency in figure drawing you’re describing? While we always strive to make people aware of how many styles can be brought into the app, it would help to have the particular perspective to discuss. Thanks!

  3. introduce ability to categorise puppet track behaviors

    I think it would help if we were able to sort out the Puppet track behavior by category. So been able to cluster all the Triggers, Walks, Headturns etc. that exist in the scene.

  4. Label the replays (color and names) along with the triggers assigned to them.

    It is kinda weird that the replays don't have the same name or color label.

    What version of Character Animator are you seeing this in? (The version number is on the right side of the menu bar.)

    What OS (macOS or Windows) are you on, and what version of the OS are you using?

    When you try to click the Home icon, does the underline under the icon not show up?

    If you choose the Window > Workspace > Home menu command, does it switch to the Home screen?

  6. Live edit-ability of photoshop file on iPad Pro via Mobile Photoshop App

    Hi. Flipping love this program. Soooo much. A bunch.

    Also, I love the mobile Photoshop app. It is my favorite way to create and edit the artwork for my puppets, backgrounds....etc.

    My idea centers around, (what may be in fact, nothing more than ignorance) my perceived inability to edit/access the puppet photoshop file from my iPad Pro, in the way Character Animator natively uses the desktop Photoshop program(app? Am I supposed to call them all apps now? ****....).

  8. 3D Face Mapping

    I've been using an iPhone app called "MugLife" to add animation to my drawings. I use a green background to isolate the head, then use a motion tracking app to pin the head onto my Character Animator animations in Final Cut Pro. It results in an extremely animated head that moves along with my animated puppet. It would be great to implement "MugLife"-type functionality into Character Animator directly to create these kind of beautifully animated full-motion heads. (Adding the ability to customize the teeth/mouth would be essential to create more polished characters.) I've attached a few sample heads to show…

  9. Timeline Improvements

    Can he timeline navigation be more consistent with AE or Premiere please? Be great if we could drag over the time line and have the timeline"zoom" interface element in the same place.

    Also, to be able to change the colour of the takes and layers on the timeline as with AE and Prem would be more than handy. It's all a little confusing and difficult to work in at the moment.

  10. Lock undocked Control Panels per puppet, so you can arm and edit multiple puppets

    Sometimes its necessary to see how puppets interact. When you select and arm multiple puppets in the timeline there are no controls in the panel.

  11. Add blending to the timeline layers

    We can set blending modes in the puppets levels, but i think it would also be nice to be able to blend the layers in the timeline section.

  13. Make example puppets easily accessible after starting a new project

    When you first open Character Animator you are given a list of example puppets, but it's not easy to go back to that menu after selecting one.

  15. Keep Audio Track Visible.

    Would be really helpful to have the audio track locked so it doesn't scroll in the Timeline. Keeping the waveform visible even when scrolling up and down.

  16. More Keyboard Triggers

    Open up the other keys on a keyboard to be used for triggers. Especially the Function Keys. Also, would be great to be able to add a modifier on triggers.

  17. Puppet App Player

    I sell a lot of puppets, but I, and many other designers, could sell ALOT more if the customer didnt have to sign up for CH to operate the puppet. Bare with me, I have a solution. Its not only the cost, but some people find using the software difficult if they are not use to PC.MAC based programs, many today are use to using simple to load and play apps.     Greetings: My name is Ken Wampler, I've been a member since 8/28/2015. I don't have a suggestion for software changes for CA (not currently anyway), but for user experience. I've been working on a video for sometime now and I have two charactors which I have done the voices for. I have a need for third charactor which I chose the Caufman charactor to play because he could walk. I needed a voice actor for this and went to fiverr.com for this. I was disappointed with the results. I now see the difficulty in getting good voice matches.

    Glad to have you with us for so long! That’s a great suggestion, Ken. We’ll keep it in mind. In the meantime, while Character Animator doesn’t have our own site dedicated to user creations, there are many user groups online and we do have a Character Animator Forum at:
    https://forums.adobe.com/community/character-animator .

    May be a good discussion to start there and get some other folks in the community to help identify the right location for the idea. But, we’ll think about it too.

  19. Bug report, I cannot pin my characters to the ground.

    Do you have Fixed-tagged handles (e.g., created with the Pin tool) on the mesh that the legs/feet are on? Would you be able to share a screenshot of the puppet’s structure (layers list with the group that contains the Fixed handles selected) in the Puppet panel?

  20. CLIP LABELS

    Would be nice to have the tracks labeled in the Timeline. The triggers are labeled.

    Sure would make it easier to find which track is which.
