  1. Resolution Options for Photoshop (Raster) Puppets

    It would be really helpful if there was an option to import raster, photoshop-based puppets at a lower "draft" resolution (like you currently can with vector Illustrator-based puppets) so that recording and setting up scenes can move more swiftly and smoothly and you still have the option to res up before outputting your final render or if a scene needs a tighter than usual zoom. (I know that you can achieve this by having different versions of your puppets, but the downside of that is, often we edit puppets on the fly, and if you edit the lower-res puppet, you…

  2. Able to move characters from Pro to Starter Mode to Animate Faster

    It would be great to be able to take the original characters we create in Pro mode using puppet maker back to Starter mode to be able to animate faster, and then be able to drop them back in the Pro mode timeline.

  3. actual real-time playback? What a concept!

    Is this still a bug or am I crazy?!?

    You can't scrub through the timeline or even move and stop to a place in the timeline and see EXACTLY what is happening. You have to hit PLAY so that the app "wakes up" and updates/renders what you are supposed to see at that moment. Am I crazy? Why isn't everyone up in arms about this? It's absolutely unacceptable and unfathomable that this would even be happening. Yet, it's not a surprise at all since this is Adobe we're talking about and they are famous for such lazy oversights.   4. I am unable to paste 'Extract and Copy Face measurements' data from After Effects onto a Character Animator puppet

    Attempted using two different PC's and installations of the software with the same result. Was able to paste the data to a text document so it is there. Character Animator won't accept it. This is a bug. Please fix it.

    Hi Greg,

    Are you using After Effects version 22.6 and Character Animator version 22.5, or other combination of versions? I'm not currently able to reproduce the issue.

    Just to confirm, if you paste the text into Notepad, then select all the text there and copy it, does it then work when you try to paste the data onto the selected puppet track in Character Animator?

    Would you be willing to share the face tracking data with us to help diagnose what might be going on? If so, just save the text file from Notepad. If you prefer to keep the text file private, can you send me a private message on the Character Animator user forum (https://www.adobe.com/go/chfeedback )?

  5. My puppet won't show up

    When I drag my puppet to the scene it won't show up no matter what I do and I'm on the latest version.

  6. Real-time playback

    I don't think you guys noticed this, but I'm sure that thousands of your users have-

    In-app playback in Animate and Character Animator absolutely sucks. How is it that in 2002, you could scrub and play through the timeline as you work and get frame-accurate playback. But now, with vastly faster CPUs, we can't see that anymore and we have to resort to exporting videos and swfs just to see what we are doing actually looks like? You should be ashamed of yourselves at how poorly your apps perform, given the horsepower of modern computers. It's deplorable. What's your excuse…

  10. Pause rendering

    It would be nice if you could pause the rendering during working on the scene. Also, if I pause the playback the puppets are still rendered in real-time although nothing moves on the screen. This causes my computer to slow down and my laptop to heat up massively and draining its battery heavily. If I pause the playback, I also want the rendering to pause. This problem forces me to do longer working sessions on my computer, as my laptop heats up so much that it is uncomfortable to touch the device. (M1 MacBook Air)

  11. Hand flip automatically with Limb IK

    I would like the limb IK to automatically determine the correct hand artwork (back of hand vs. palm) based on when the elbow flips. I can set up this manually in replays but it would add a lot of flexibility in streaming applications if I could have a swap set of palm and back hand pairs that Limb IK could determine based on the elbow bend.

  12. Frame rate very low even on a powerful 2019 Mac Pro system with fast SSD and GPU

    Great app, but as soon as I record the frame rate drops, resulting in a pretty jerky animation, which is particularly noticeable on draggers. I'm using a 12 core 2019 Mac Pro with an SSD Raid, 96GB RAM and a W5700X GPU, so it's unlikely to be the machine not being powerful enough, more likely it's not utilising it fully. Otherwise, maybe this could be solved with a feature that creates smooth tweening between the frames?

  13. Compute Head Movement from Speech is erratic

    Currently, the option to Compute Head Movement from Speech produces unsatisfactory results. The head movement is erratic and independent parts of the face shift too far from their positions. This problem exists regardless of which puppet is used.

  14. Make it stop crashing!

    Crashes constantly. I imported a static image with a mouth set of visemes on top of it, nothin more. Anything that I click to try to test sync, or basically anything else, causes the application to close abruptly. Can't do anything.

  15. individual movement in the particles

    In the current version, the emitted particles are static images.
    I would like to see individual movement in the particles.

    It would be great if the particles could be triggered to blink, or if a cycle layer could be used to emit particles in motion.

  16. MIDI Velocity Support

    I would love to see support for the velocity of a key press from a MIDI keyboard or pad. Often the nutcracker jaw and other lip sync does not follow the words very well, so having the ability to control the jaw with a key/button press on a MIDI keyboard would be great. If I tap lightly, the jaw opens a little, and if I tap hard, the jaw opens wide. Maybe this behavior could also be mapped to feet, so you could make a character dance just by tapping two different buttons.

  17. Distorted camera view with ElGato HD60 capture card and a gopro

  19. I want the same reproducibility in the recording of physical property behaviors as in the recording.

    I recorded a scene in which a puppet flows in the wind using the physical properties behavior. However, when I play it back, it does not behave the same. Each time I play it back, the behavior is different.
    I hope that the next version will have the same behavior.
