  1. Manual Multiple Images Option for Characterizer

    Characterizer offers 3 way of building a puppet:

    1) Automatic Webcam where you sit in front of the camera and follow the instructions

    2) Manual Webcam where you sit in front of the camera and follow the instructions (but instructions are more detailed and numerous)

    3) Image where you submit one single image with minimalistic rigging

    I am suggesting that Characterizer should offer a fourth option that sounds quite simple to me which is:

    4) Manual multiple images where you can enter several images or photos following the same instructions as Manual Webcam but instead of having to sit yourself…

  2. I want to create Scripts to Character Animator, is it possible?

  3. Walking triggered by keyboard

    Hello, if you could wipe out the "walking" through the keyboard, you could use multiple gaits for a puppet. She could then walk normally, walk or walk very slowly. For streaming, it would be easier to give the character more dynamic.

  4. Trigger control improvement

    In the control section for triggers, in layout you can drag the icons to where you want, and you can even drag one icon on top of another, but, when you press it, it still only triggers one of the icons. It would be great if you could layer icons on top of each other, and then you only have to press the one to trigger them all at once. The reason for this is because if you create a trigger group, all the actions in that group has to be the same lengh in frames, otherwise it causes bits…

  6. Internal error code: (751789695:79+6) assertion failed!

    Hello! I love your product. :)

         Internal error code: (751789695:79+6) assertion failed!
    

    I was working on creating an animation, saved a new file, imported a puppet, and then was going to drag into the timeline but as I moved the mouse from the menu, as seen in the screenshot, I received the following error code. I was able to recreate it several times.

    Everything seems to be fine with the file, however.

  7. Quick Behaviors and Auto Rigging

    Wishlist, with Create Trigger dropzone - Would be great if there was one that created both a Trigger and add Cycle Layers Behavior.

    Would also love a way to set Cycle Layers, Triggers, Bones, and Attach from layer names in Illustrator and Photoshop. (Similar to independent.)

    Sometimes I have to restructure my puppet and it’s tough having to re-rig when plans change.

    Inverse kinematics – Similar to the after effects riggin plugin DUIK, adding more realistic control to limbs. Makes them only bend one way

    Love any shortcuts that keep things from becoming repetitive.

  8. Duplicate Rigging

    If you have characters in similar size - choose to copy rigging elements from one character to another. Or have the ability to copy rigging elements onto a new character and make refinements if needed

  9. Selected Camera Unavailable for iPhone Epoccam webcam app

    Character Animator CC on 5/29/20 shows "Selected Camera Unavailable" when app and phone are working correctly

  10. I cannot use live action animation, because I'm too disabled.

    I cannot use live action animation, because I'm too disabled.

    However, I would like to develop a character to represent me and read my post. I know I can bring in an audio file, but can I then animate the face, rather that just a fixed face with just the mouth moving? Hope this makes sense?

  12. Viseme order when pasting into AE

    The information available on how to do this is, at best, incomplete and at worst, wrong.

    Step #2 says to create a comp with the visemes "matching the order of visemes in Character Animator’s Visemes context menu" and gives an example of the order being Neutral, Aa, D "and so on".
    The problem is that in Character Animator (current version 2.11) the viseme order in the context menu is different. See screenshot.

    Just to complicate things, the layer order of the visemes in the default head PSD is different again.

    So… which is the…

  13. Make example puppets easily accessible after starting a new project

    When you first open Character Animator you are given a list of example puppets, but it's not easy to go back to that menu after selecting one.

    When the application cannot locate the artwork for a puppet file, you can select the puppet in the Project panel, then click the orange file path in the Properties panel to select the correct/updated location for it.

    Thanks for the feedback on making the process of relinking a little more understandable.

    Or are you encountering a different relinking issue?

  15. Preview render in timeline

    My puppets are many layered and large which I know creates a drag on resources. The frame rate slowing is not usually much of an issue - except today as I'm working on lipsyncing. In this particular area, I do want frame accurate playback. Visemes not aligning with speech is very noticeable... it's hard to get it right when the frame rate is playing back at 50%.

    What I have been doing is dynamically linking to AE with composition set to play all frames. The render is bearable and I can see what needs tweaking.

    Hi Imari,

    One of the unique things about Character Animator is that you can layer multiple takes with different properties, behaviors, and parameters enabled, in the same scene timeline.

    So your workflow could include an initial performance where you record your basic audio and face tracking, then disarm audio and face, and other properties that are not needed, then record another take using only remaining armed properties, for instance, draggers, physics or triggers. This means that you can always change and add to your performance, even after recording the initial take or many.

    That’s a long way of saying, for the time being, the best things you can do to preview without running into performance issues, is disarm anything you aren’t needing to have active during your preview. So, if you have a timeline with multiple puppet tracks, physics, draggers and triggers behaviors, but you’re working on your face tracking…

  16. More Keyboard Triggers

    Open up the other keys on a keyboard to be used for triggers. Especially the Function Keys. Also, would be great to be able to add a modifier on triggers.

  17. Bug: Waiting for camera forever on mac mojave

    On Mojave (10.14.3), the camera doesn't work: It is "Waiting for camera" forever. The green light next to the camera comes on, but CA stays waiting. I've tried all the ideas found in google searches:
    - I can't change to the next camera (there's only 1).
    - I have given permission to the camera, and even rebooted after.
    - The mic works fine.
    - The camera works in other apps, e.g. Chrome (which also has permission, I just didn't include that in the screenshot).

  18. Enable hinge effects on a dragger.

    I am trying to make rope arms, where when you grab the hand the arm dangles from a hinge on the hand and from the shoulder. This is impossible however because when you grab something, that part remains fixed in a certain position. This creates some weird bending on the arm by the hand. (The hand always points downwards). This could be usefull for all sorts of stuff.

  19. Fix Dynamic Link to AE

    Whenever I update audio file in CA for lip sync, it works fine but AE won't see the new changes, still plays to previous file that was imported into AE. Very annoying.

  20. Concept one to motion

    If you can record full face movements, why not record full body motion like motion capture with no need to push buttons to walk , run or jump?
