    Hello,

    Can you please provide more information? The problems you describe are not ones that we commonly see, but perhaps we have misunderstood something in the translation.

    As I understand it, your issues are:

    1. Importing Ai file causes app to crash
    2. Importing PSD results in no image present.

    Could you please zip your project file and post?

  2. Send raw characterizer captures to Photoshop

    Characterizer system is awesome but, it has trouble recognizing and masking a couple of things like beards and certain skin tones even with lighting.The capture process is incredibly useful though and it would be awesome to be able to send those initial captures to photoshop to do things like edit what is masked out, manually draw faces based on the captures, and manipulate the captures themselves.
    OR
    at a minimum add a step between the captures and characterization where you can tell characterizer what it should see as face, head hair, facial hair, etc. Similar to the process when adding…

  3. Magnets Hinge and Weld - none great (add friction to hinge?)

    I had a balloon on a string. Dangles turn off the string (created a separate issue for that one). Without dangle the balloon would either sway from side to side with no way to stop it (there was no “friction” setting on the hinge to slow it down), or using weld it would be a firm stick with no dynamic feel to the balloon at all.

    I think Hinge would be more useful if there was a friction or damping setting to slowly reduce the swaying effect of “hinge” today. Otherwise hinge is not that useful - things just keep…

  5. New “loop forever” replay mode

    The new Replays feature is cool, but it is missing a “loop forever” mode. I want to hit a trigger (e.g. latched) and have the sequence play forever until the trigger is hit again. At present a replay plays once and stops and you have to trigger it again to get it to repeat, even when trigger latching is on.

    I assume a third replay mode of “loop forever while triggered” is wanted as a trigger mode.

    The usecase is an “idle” state for the puppet. You can record an idle state (fidgeting etc) and and some other states (“frustrated”,…

  6. Dragger's return to rest is acting strange since 2.0 update

    since the 2.0 update Ive been having a weird bug with dragger arms attached by hinges and how to interact when set to return to rest.

    Before the update, they would return to the default position that was set in the Photoshop file. But after the update, the arm straightens out facing in the direction that the dragger has been moved in and after the duration set under return to rest it will immediately snap back to the default position.

  7. Manual Multiple Images Option for Characterizer

    Characterizer offers 3 way of building a puppet:

    1) Automatic Webcam where you sit in front of the camera and follow the instructions

    2) Manual Webcam where you sit in front of the camera and follow the instructions (but instructions are more detailed and numerous)

    3) Image where you submit one single image with minimalistic rigging

    I am suggesting that Characterizer should offer a fourth option that sounds quite simple to me which is:

  8. Fix Dynamic Link to AE

    Whenever I update audio file in CA for lip sync, it works fine but AE won't see the new changes, still plays to previous file that was imported into AE. Very annoying.

  9. Eye gaze and Face input source as webcam or X/Y positions

    Eye gaze and Face can only use the webcam as inputs. It would be good to allow another mode where X/Y properties control which direction the face is facing (controls parallax) and which way the eyes are looking.

    In my case I want to hook up to an external MIDI source so can use HTC Vive VR equipment to control eye gaze and parallax. I could possibly use Transform behaviors with a lot of care, but its tricky as you need to get the transform for both eyes correct (calibration is hard). It also means the puppet can be used…

  10. Let us record facial tracking markers

    The facial tracking in Ch is so great, it makes me crazy that we seemingly have no access to it. The mouth is tracked in fine detail, but it seems almost entirely discarded. You can't record the markers, and I can't seem to find any way to drive visemes with video (sorry guys, but driving it with audio is too sketchy)

    If Ch can give me a real-time, 1:1 line up with my face and the trackers, why can't I drive more with that? And why do I have to use AE's slow and error prone facial tracking to do…

  11. [BUG] Audio hardware change causes freezing and crashing

    Switching audio hardware from inline speakers to bluetooth headset causes CH to freeze and crash when recording and during playback even though the audio hardware setting preference is updated.

  12. A true skeletal system

    I'd like to see a true bone system implemented instead of trying to derive a structure from points that can be scattered in different parts of the puppet. Consolidating all the hinge points to a single layer will make editing and debugging a puppet much easier and straightforward.

  13. More mouth constants. "Th", "K", "P", "Ch", etc.

    Complex mouths look pretty bad when synced to audio, and it becomes very noticeable that some sounds don't have proper lip pronunciations such as "Th", "Z", "K", "P", and "Wh".

    Getting the 12 essentials would be a massive improvement and allow for more complex designs.

  15. Concept one to motion

    If you can record full face movements, why not record full body motion like motion capture with no need to push buttons to walk , run or jump?

  18. Nested Swap Sets

    Can we have NESTED SWAP SETS?

    When I hit "Generate Controls," it tells me I have 496 triggers. I love that the program can handle this BUT really, a lot of these are repeats from one head position or body position to the next. Adding a swap set for hands, on multiple arm positions is what created this giant tedious day (496!) with my MIDI controller.

    If the Swap Sets could understand that two same-named arm positions with same-name hand positions are the same, you would TOTALLY SAVE US SO MUCH TIME!!

  19. Export nulls from Character Animator to After Effects

    Just getting rolling with CA so please forgive if my terminology is way off. It seems to me it'd be very helpful if we could create Nulls in CA that we could export to AE. Then we'd be able to use the nulls in AE to attach objects, use as emitters, center points for effects... all kinds wacky of stuff.

    I'd think we should also be able to assign these nulls in CA to our eye's performances and any draggable handles.

    Dogging CA so far... thanks for the cool tool.
