  1. No (obvious) way to remove trigger from a layer

    Repro steps:

    1. Think like a user/newbie.
    2. Create a new project and import Blank.
    3. Go into rig mode.
    4. Add a trigger to any body part.
    5. Add a behaviour to that same part.
    6. Right-click the lego/gear icon for that body part.
    7. Notice that there's a 'remove all behaviours' option in the context menu.
    8. Right-click the trigger icon for the same body part.

    Notice that there's no corresponding way to remove all triggers from that body part exposed in the menu.

    In addition to creating a bit of an asymmetry between one part of the user experience and another, it looks as if…

  2. It would be very helpful if we could enter into groups to edit elements within.

    Currently, if I want to edit a single element within a group I have to ungroup everything, edit the parameter, then regroup everything. It all happens within the layout control view so it gets very messy. My grouped content can have 30 parameters so finding each element that I want to then regroup is tedious among all the other controls that dont get grouped. Then, once I regroup it, I need to rename the new group each time again.
    The ability to simply enter into the group, edit what I want and exit the group would be far superior.

  4. Expand all / Close All nodes in panel tree views (esp. Project and Puppet Panels)

    In Panels such as the Project Panel and Puppet Panel, Character Animator organizes information via "tree" structure.

    It allows a user to drill into detailed information by clicking the expand icon (right arrow while closed) or to hide the detailed information by clicking the same icon again (down arrow while open).

    However, these operations only work on a single node in the tree, so it can be time consuming to achieve the desired view.

    It would be useful to support a "Collapse All" command, perhaps via a right-click content menu. This would close all selected nodes, but also close all…

  5. In Puppet Panel, show which layers have Tags

    Character Animator currently has icon columns in the Puppet Panel that show if a layer has Handles, Behaviours or Triggers associated.

    I would also like to see if a layer has Tags associated. I would suggest adding a fourth column to the Puppet Panel.

    If the number of columns is a concern, you could give the user the ability to hide / show columns.

  6. Ability to resize and recolour Handles

    I have problems seeing the Handles.

    I've tried zooming in, but Handles remain at the same size.

    Could you add the ability to change size and colour in Preferences please?

  8. Project panel: folders should not open automatically when drag something onto it

    I f you drag something onto a folder inside the Project panel the folder should not open automatically.
    (Only if you stay on the folder with the dragged object/cursor)

  9. make the anchor point visible

    since you don't see the anchor point you have to guess where it is.
    Thats not so convenient.
    Please make the anchor point visible as long as you change the value in the properties panel.
    (Or even better than two x/y prameters: add a crosshair-cursor to place the anchor point with one click)

  11. 3D Face Mapping

    I've been using an iPhone app called "MugLife" to add animation to my drawings. I use a green background to isolate the head, then use a motion tracking app to pin the head onto my Character Animator animations in Final Cut Pro. It results in an extremely animated head that moves along with my animated puppet. It would be great to implement "MugLife"-type functionality into Character Animator directly to create these kind of beautifully animated full-motion heads. (Adding the ability to customize the teeth/mouth would be essential to create more polished characters.) I've attached a few sample heads to show…

  12. Lock undocked Control Panels per puppet, so you can arm and edit multiple puppets

    Sometimes its necessary to see how puppets interact. When you select and arm multiple puppets in the timeline there are no controls in the panel.

    What version of Character Animator are you seeing this in? (The version number is on the right side of the menu bar.)

    What OS (macOS or Windows) are you on, and what version of the OS are you using?

    When you try to click the Home icon, does the underline under the icon not show up?

    If you choose the Window > Workspace > Home menu command, does it switch to the Home screen?

  15. Live edit-ability of photoshop file on iPad Pro via Mobile Photoshop App

    Hi. Flipping love this program. Soooo much. A bunch.

    Also, I love the mobile Photoshop app. It is my favorite way to create and edit the artwork for my puppets, backgrounds....etc.

    My idea centers around, (what may be in fact, nothing more than ignorance) my perceived inability to edit/access the puppet photoshop file from my iPad Pro, in the way Character Animator natively uses the desktop Photoshop program(app? Am I supposed to call them all apps now? ****....).

  17. Provide more diverse and professional examples

    I am a professor of art with an MFA in animation specifically. I need to see more examples provided which reflect the competency in figure drawing we encourage students to aspire and practice. Currently, that is not reflected in the examples provided. Additionally, where diversity is portrayed, diversity includes age. By restricting your examples to those that depict generally teenagers and children, you send a message we in art programs in art schools and colleges let alone education and the motion picture industry are trying to change. You also can find some less age specific examples in our earlier shared puppets here: https://character.adobelanding.com/puppets/

    In regard to the drawing styles, would you be kind enough to post a couple examples of the types of artwork that indicate the competency in figure drawing you’re describing? While we always strive to make people aware of how many styles can be brought into the app, it would help to have the particular perspective to discuss. Thanks!

    Greetings: My name is Ken Wampler, I've been a member since 8/28/2015. I don't have a suggestion for software changes for CA (not currently anyway), but for user experience. I've been working on a video for sometime now and I have two charactors which I have done the voices for. I have a need for third charactor which I chose the Caufman charactor to play because he could walk. I needed a voice actor for this and went to fiverr.com for this. I was disappointed with the results. I now see the difficulty in getting good voice matches.

    Glad to have you with us for so long! That’s a great suggestion, Ken. We’ll keep it in mind. In the meantime, while Character Animator doesn’t have our own site dedicated to user creations, there are many user groups online and we do have a Character Animator Forum at:
    https://forums.adobe.com/community/character-animator .

    May be a good discussion to start there and get some other folks in the community to help identify the right location for the idea. But, we’ll think about it too.
