  1. Bug making it hard to work with multiple files. Selection range and view is persistent from one file to the next.

This used to work correctly. I can't find a preference for it. If it is a bug, please address it soon --- it has completely broken my workflow. Thanks!

    To reproduce:
    1. Open two audio files.
    2. In file one, select a range in the waveform editor (e.g. between 1.0-1.5 seconds)
    3. Double click on file two. Note that same range (e.g. 1.0-1.5 seconds) is selected in it. Now select a different range (e.g. 0.5-1.0 seconds)
    4. Double click on file one. Note that new range (e.g. 0.5-1.0 seconds) is now selected in file one (not the original 1.0-1.5 seconds.) …

  3. waveform

    RE: CASE NUMBERADB-3289363-G4Q9E

Unexpected Waveform Behavior. After recording for about three minutes the Waveform no longer shows (which makes it impossible to edit!).
These are random occurrences but when it does happen I have to begin another WAV file and continue recording. Mayur, senior Adobe Advisor, had me reinstall Adobe 2017 and the waveform reappeared. Then after closing Adobe CC 2018 and reopening the file the Waveform image magically reappeared! Tis' a puzzlement.

  4. Waveform Editor Grid

I would like to have the option to toggle the visibility of the Waveform Editor Grid. This feature was available in legacy versions of Audition.

  5. Ability to view sample values

In the waveform editor, when zooming in all the way until one can see individual samples, it used to be possible to view the actual sample value. This seems essential for a technical tool. But the support for this was removed from Audition at some point. Please bring it back!

  7. 16-bit dither switch is flipped

When I save a 16-bit wav file (mine happens to be 8 ch), if I click on the sample type options, and Dithering: Disabled, if I close and open the file again I notice noise in the silence portions of my file where it was identically 0 before.

If I do the same, but select Dithering: Enabled, the silence portions are identically 0.

It seems that the Dithering switch is flipped.

  8. Audio

Hi. I can't see my WAV file. I can hear it. I can see the spectral display reading of my file. But nothing appears in the wav timeline.

  9. Select to the end (or beginning) then mouse goes outside the waveform view

This is a great feature that we used to have on other wave editors back in the 90s.

When you're selecting a waveform and you drag the mouse below the view (the pink line in the screenshot) the selection of the waveform goes till the end.
On the contrary, if you're selecting and you move the mouse above the viewport, the selection goes to the beginning.

The selection is then performed on mouse up if the cursor stays outside.

This interaction speeds up a lot of operations that involve selecting the beginning or the end without the need of zooming.

  10. Improve Center Channel Mapping

In the “Audio Channel Mapping” preferences, allow “File Channel 3 [C]” to be mapped to both left and right outputs so that mono (“center”) channels can be heard through both outputs while playing back in the Waveform Editor. This behavior seems to happen automatically when using the built-in speakers as the Default Output, but changing the Default Output hardware breaks it. The result is that the user is forced to listen to mono signals through either the left or right output, but not both.

  11. Fix Noise Print Saving

In the Noise Reduction effect, in order to save a Noise Print, I have to save twice. Currently, saving once does not save the captured Noise Print, and I have lost prints several times because of this bug. Please fix this; thank you.

  12. BUG: Audio recording scrambled

The audio got scrambled up after a recording a voice over in the Waveform Editor. Maybe this happened after a crash (and "restore"), maybe not. Basically I was adding to the existing recording, regularly also deleting parts.

What happens is that throughout the file, parts of audio are repeated like a hanging CD, at that point overwriting the original audio.

The reason I recorded in the waveform editor was so I didn't have to make a session for only a voice over. That is what I have used the Waveform editor for a lot, for many years, and in my…

  13. Sync *vertical* zoom level between files

The waveform viewer supports syncing the zoom between files. But only the horizontal (time) zoom is synced. Can the ability to sync the vertical (level) axis as well be brought back? This used to just work but looks like support was removed at some point. It can be very frustrating when trying to compare two files and zooming in for the details.

  14. Open and see Favorites sttings

I would like to be able to see my "Favorites" just like I can see my Presets, so I can see what they actually do; in some cases, it was a while ago that I set them up so I don't t always remember. I know I can save Favorites as presets (painfully, extra work; it would be cool to have a checkbox that would let me optionally save in both places), but I don't use them the same way. I use my Presets for settings I'll want for a long time, and Favorites for effects I either use very…

  15. I would like History the list my "Favorites" or other descriptive presets, rather than the generic terms like "Parametric Eq"

See above. The idea is I'd like to know which specific preset I"ve applied, as some of mine are subtly different enough or simply subtle enough that it would be nice to be able to see what I did.

  16. Retention of Applied Plugin(s) and/or Effect(s)

User should have the option to (1) close an instantiated plugin/effect/chain instance after applying (this is the current behavior). Or, (2) allow the instantiated plugin/effect/chain to remain active after applying. This would free the user from the need to constantly re-instantiate. One case example would be the use of an EQ instance to apply a surgical high-pass filter to "spot process" consistent plosives throughout a recorded piece. Bypassing the plugin/effect/chain after it's applied without physicilly closing it establishes easy (future) accessibility.

  17. Improve Spot Healing Brush Tool (stop leaving gaps of silence behind)

Using the Spot Healing Brush Tool tends to leave holes that are quieter than the surrounding audio, which is rarely what we'd want. The only time the tool truly works well is if you've recorded audio in a perfect environment with no audible noise floor. That's not how the real world typically works, though.

Just to visualize what I mean, try this:
    - Effects > Generate > Noise and Apply
    - Use the Spot Healing Brush Tool above the 1.5k range
    - notice that you're leaving holes of quietness behind wherever you paint

It would be incredible if the algorithm…

  18. Video displayed in Waveform Editor

Re:Video displayed in Wave Editor. When you apply processing - a new audio file is created disassociated from the video. I would prefer option to replace the source audio with processed audio - and export via video pass-thru to prevent re-encoding.

  19. Fix a bug

The last two releases have included what I see as a bug. When in PLAY mode, if I "Zoom To Selection" or "Zoom In At In Point" at the beginning of a file, the play head stays in the middle of the window. However (in the last two releases) if I do the same towards the END of the file it zooms to the wrong spot, and I don't see the play head. I'm on build 11.1.0.184.

  20. Enhance Mix Paste Crossfade Algorithm to Maintain Audio Amplitude

Premiere Pro has a few different audio crossfades: Constant Power (the default), Constant Gain, and Exponential Fade.

The algorithm used to crossfade audio in Audition's "Mix Paste" seems similar to Constant Gain, but it would be much more useful to us if we could get something closer to Constant Power

Steps to hear how this issue affects audio:

    1. Open a file with consistent noise (ambient room tone, waterfall; any noise that has mostly consistent amplitude throughout) or create a new file and generate some noise

    2. Copy a portion of the noise

    3. Mix paste this copied noise atop a different section…
