Two Issues Might Be Related
If for some reason my studio power goes out or if my computer restarts for an update, many of the audio files I have do not restore. The majority of them are voice/audio files I've recorded as an audio file and was still working on them. This does not happen all the time, but when it does it is frustrating.
My second issue, is I produce mutiple radio programs using the same music but change the audio drops depending on the radio stations requirements. When I cut and paste files, many are corrupt in the new multi-track session. I am forced to delete them and slide in new tracks from my storage file. Any suggestions on these issues?

For the first issue, it sounds like the NAS drive is being remapped on a computer restart. Audition will use absolute file paths when it can, and if a network drive is offline, or is assigned a new drive number, files will be seen as offline. Mapping the network drive to a dedicated drive letter might help avoid this.
For the second issue, are these corrupted files MP3's, or some other compressed file? -

Yes, that is exactly correct. I'm guessing it's an external drive issue? What are my options? I have 15,000 files I draw from every week.

Are you working on Network Attached Storage of some kind via Windows?
