Nondestructive Waveform Editing
When making edits to an individual clip it would great if it would save the changes as a recipe as in Lightroom Classic, or transparently render a new file into media cache or RAM and change the pointers to reference it. This would operate safely the way Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro and other professional apps operate.
Additionally, the users shouldn’t be promoted to manually save changes to clips. This should be done automatically in the background and the multitrack editor and Dynamic Link partners should reference the newest clip version without manual file reference / save as changes.
Perhaps in the past, it made sense to do destructive editing to save on storage but now NVMe storage, RAM, and powerful processors are cheap enough that it is no longer logical to edit dangerously.

In other words, clip edits should be applied as layered punch in/out takes and cached with the recipe stored in the project file. The cached takes can be lower quality if necessary to save on system resources, with the full quality achieved at render time (as in an NLE).
I have 32 GB of RAM, 12 physical processor cores, and 1 TB of NVMe storage available to Audition. USE THEM to make editing safer, faster, and smoother!
