Substaintial Plugin instability on 16,1 MacBook Pro running Catalina
I'm migrating over to a new secondary machine (brand new MBP, 16", 6 core, 4 GB Video engine). Catalina out of the box. I'm having all sorts of problems running plugins. Mainly - instant crashing upon instantiation and/or out of the ordinary sluggish performance. E.g. - (A) any attempt to instantiate plugins by Nugen Audio immediately crash (the most current version of) Audition. (B)Displaying the UI by SuprEsser by Sonnox severly inhibits the fluidity of the playhead. (C)Elixir by Flux and Loudness Radar (native) by TC Electronic appear as small sort of tiles in the lower left of the Audition plugin wrapper. (D)Youlean Loudness Meter immediately crashes Audition when attempting to customize the plugin's embedded scaling options. There are other issues as well. In essence, and based on my reliance for certain plugins - Audition is unusable. Let me mention that all plugins by FabFilter work as expected. So - what's the cause? Are developers lagging with their support for Catalina? Or is there some sort of wide-spread compatibility issue in Audition? I forgot to mention my issues are not isolated to a particular version (AU, VST/3) of a plugin. Problems persist regardless of the instantiated version. Any insight? This machine replaced a 2013 MacBook Pro running Mojave. No issues on that machine. And I'm also using a legacy MacPro running High Sierra. No issues on that machine either.

I have a similar problem with Reaper plugins. Particularly when I try to instantiate a fifth band in the reaeq-standalone equalizer. Then both Premiere Pro and Audition crash (but Audition only crash if I try to render or enable render-on-fly). I am on Windows 10. I have had to migrate to Davinci Resolve in order to get any work done.

Note I installed the current Beta version of Audition (13.10.***). All problematic issues as reported persist.

Matt, Catalina was released just about 1 year ago. And beta versions were floated months prior. I'm not seeing the same amount of incompatibility issues with other DAWS. And now we have another imminent major OS version pending. Bottom line I need these tools to work in Audition. FabFilter has it all figured out. So what gives? BTW - I have no affiliation with FabFilter.

Catalina has caused lots of issue due to the removal of 32 bit binary support. Most audio effects will need new builds for Catalina compatibility.

Michael - as noted I'm running the current version of Audition (13.9.41). All issues persist. I'm running the latest versions of Nugen's plugins. And as far as I know it's been over a year since TC Electronic posted an update for Loudness Radar (native). Sonnox response? "We'll the noted plugin is CPU intensive." Right. Trouble is the described performance issue did not exist on a machine from 6 years ago.

Hi Paul-
Which version number of Audition are you using on Catalina?
The Loudness Radar (native) by TC Electronic issue was fixed in Audition 13.0.8. I would advise checking for updates for those plug-ins for Catalina.
Which version of the Nugen Audio plug-ins are you using? They should have an update available for that crash. Thanks!
